Your Kent Wedding -September/October 2020 (Issue 92)

I was keen to go with bright, punchy colours, so we settled on jewel tones, with sapphire, emerald, ruby, amethyst and gold. We decorated the main dining space with paper poms poms as well as two large floral arrangements either side of the entrance. My four best women were my closest friends from school. They wore taupe tulle dresses, with gold tonal sequins. I wore an Essense of Australia gown. I was determined not to have anything too fitted, but once I tried on the one , I loved it. So, I’d definitely recommend dress shopping with an open mind! Mickey is 6ft 8ins, so were concerned that finding a suit would be a challenge, but we stumbled across Next’s tall range, and found the perfect grey wool three-piece suit. He accessorised with a dark green tie and pocket square. We chose to undertake all the legal elements a few days beforehand, which allowed Mickey’s sister, Verity, to lead the ceremony on the day, as we both felt it was really important that the person fulfilling this role knew us both well. I travelled to the venue in a Morris Minor decorated with ribbons matching our theme. It was only a 15-minute drive, but I’m glad I decided to do it as it meant I got to spend some time with my dad. 50
