Your Kent Wedding -September/October 2020 (Issue 92)

CHARLTON PARK 01227 831 355 | www.charlton-park.org Charlton Place is a Grade II listed mansion, set in more than 100 acres of parkland, seven miles outside of Canterbury. This welcoming country house has an expansive white Regency façade with a dramatic driveway sweep, framed by woodland and herbaceous borders. The Ballroom’s bay window lends Regency curvature to the side of the house, and a wooden walkway extends from inside directly out amongst the herbaceous borders, creating an incredible first walk into the sunshine for the newlyweds. Civil ceremonies are hosted in the Ballroom. This imposing 40-foot salon is on the first floor and boasts a listed, geometric, piped-plasterwork ceiling, and a Bechstien grand piano. This elegant space can hold 100 for the “I dos” and 80 for the wedding breakfast. Celebrant-led blessings can also take place on the lawns (300 guests), woods (60 guests), and Drawing Room (40 guests). The latter is a spacious panelled room, lit with open fires for a cosy winter wedding, and can also host your reception. As well as in the Ballroom and Drawing Room receptions can also be held in the in marquees on the Reception Lawn for 120, the Croquet Lawn for 250 or on the Lower Lawns for 350. CHIDDINGSTONE CASTLE 01892 872 744 | www.chiddingstonecastle.org.uk/weddings Nestled amongst rolling countryside, within easy reach of London and the M25, Chiddingstone Castle is one of Kent’s finest historic houses. Surrounded by farmland free of modern intervention to provide context of time, the eye is easily drawn across the Castle’s 35 acres to the distant tree-top horizon. Guests can be led through the stunning grounds, across the threshold of the village gates, to the Tudor High Street, for the vows at St Mary’s Church, or simply stay on site for a civil ceremony in the Orangery, stunning in the summer months, or castle rooms. In the winter the best place to say “I do” is The Great Hall, an oak panelled double-height space with a stunning gallery. Both this and the Orangery have capacity for 120 guests. For more intimate ceremonies The White Rose Room offers a beautiful location for 60 nearest and dearest. For the celebrations The Great Hall can seat 80 for the wedding breakfast, or you can opt for the marquee on the South Lawn, which holds 120. The venue offers exclusive use, so you can choose the time you get married and your bridal party has the opportunity to prepare at leisure in the bride’s suite. www.hele nabrahamphotography.com www.how lingbasset.com www.how lingbasset.com 30
