We went to Bali on our honeymoon. We spent a week in Ubud, in the jungle, and a week at Seminyak, by the beach. I’d definitely recommend it. There was so much to do and plenty of opportunity to relax. Plus, the people were so hospitable. Our photographers, Bill and Theresa, deserve a special mention for guiding us through the day so calmly and making us feel relaxed. We felt in safe hands with them, and they went above and beyond. We decided to keep the menu simple, as we had quite a few dietary needs. We had a trio of starters on bruschetta and roast dinner for the main course followed by The Knowle’s dessert trolley, all with vegan and gluten-free options. Everyone commented on how lovely the food was. We added silver snowflake and wooden heart confetti to the tables, and the top table was decorated with a string of hearts made from old-fashioned book paper. We had a string quartet play during our ceremony. We originally heard them play at a wedding fair and decided we had to book them. We had The Knowle’s recommended DJ for the evening celebrations – he was great! “Choose your maid-of-honour wisely. Have someone you can trust and be real with. I know that helped me enormously.” 56
