Your Kent Wedding - Jul/Aug 2019 (Issue 85)

AJ PYROTECHNICS, ADRIAN WALTERS Tell us about AJ Pyrotechnics The company was born of a love for fireworks. Every professional show is high impact, vibrant and designed with you in mind. We can incorporate specific colours and firework types at your request, as well as pyro musicals, special material and bespoke firework signs. We can even let you amaze everybody by starting proceedings yourself! Why fireworks at a wedding?  If you want to amaze everyone with that something extra, then fireworks are the way to round off a special and memorable day in ultimate fashion! What’s the ideal point during proceedings to start the display?  As the year ticks along, show start times naturally extend to ensure the best lighting conditions are available for us to showcase and to deliver the wow factor. With this in mind, we usually end up performing from 10pm at high summer. As long as all fireworks are finished by 11pm to abide by the law, then it’s down to you as to when you want us, and we have a number of package options to choose from. During the day I’ll wander among the guests, drawing funny pictures, providing entertainment and one-of- a-kind mementos of your big day that the guests can take away with them. I also add a logo in the corner, saying what the event was and take photos of the guests, which I add to an album on my page for everyone to have a good laugh at after the day! What part of the day would your work best suit? I can be there to do a ceremony illustration, wander among the guests while photos are being taken, move around the tables during the wedding breakfast or even come by in the evening to add to the party atmosphere. What do you love most about working at weddings?  Guests are wonderfully varied folk, and I get to meet all sorts of people who are always happy to be part of an important event in someone’s life. She comes filled with props and sparkling lights, and the red carpet is always rolled out to provide a VIP entrance. Photos are printed instantly, and these can be totally personalised with text, filters and different layouts. We can also save prints to a USB stick, put them in a guest book alongside messages from your loved ones and upload them to social media. What set you out on your wedding supplier journey?  I’ve always loved anything to do with weddings – I’m currently planning my own! They make for a really fun environment to work in. I enjoy seeing all the different dresses, decor and ideas that couples add to their special day. I absolutely love looking back through old photos and reminiscing, so I knew a photo booth business would be perfect for me! What top tip would give couples planning their entertainment for their big day? Choose the type of entertainment you would love to see at a wedding if you were the guests, something that would be utilised fully and suitable for all different personalities. We love the nostalgia of the traditional village fete and all of the childhood memories that go along with that. Our handpicked collection pays tribute to the vintage games every family member will remember, including hook a duck, croquet, tug-of-war, bowls, hoopla and splat the rat. What’s your favourite garden game, and why?  The game that’s never on the sidelines is the coconut shy, it’s so simple but effective. It’s a personal favourite of mine, as I’m a big fan of drinking a fresh coconut upon victory! Where do you source your vintage games?  Sourcing anything vintage is a labour of love for me. Whether it’s a delicate tea set for our china hire selection or a game from a bygone era to which we can give a new lease of life, I’m happy to scour the country picking up these treasures. A fairground salvage yard is probably the most interesting place I’ve travelled to. Find out more at: finickityfayre.co.uk @finickityfayre | @finickity_fayre 84
