LOOKING YOUR BEST 71 BEAUTY Bridal Local professionals solve fashion and beauty concerns to get you big-day ready THE DREAM TEAM There are so many hair and make-up artists to pick from. How do I find the person that’s right for me? When looking for a hair and make-up artist, check the company’s social media pages to ensure you like their work style. Do this with all suppliers to see which ones stand out to you most. Next, contact the team to see how quickly they respond and if they call you personally for a quick chat to answer any further questions. Personal one-to-one conversations are great! Take time to speak about timings on the day, what happens if they’re ill, if they’ll travel on the day and any other concerns to give you a feel for their expertise. Read the company’s reviews on Google and Facebook; these are from previous brides and cannot be removed. Experience is the key! Look at how long the company has been in business for and check what wedding directories they’re affiliated with, awards they’ve won and what other suppliers recommend the team. Remember, you always pay for what you get. Someone who is cheaper usually is just starting out and has a limited portfolio – typically lots of photos of themselves with different make-up looks but not on brides. Finally, have a make-up trial to meet the supplier. You must feel confident they’ll add a calming presence and laughter to your day, as it’s always great to have a fun morning! The supplier should be reassuring while going out of their way to ensure everyone looks and feels their best. With 20 years of happy brides behind us, impeccable service, a genuine portfolio and many awards, we would love to bring your dream hair and make-up looks to life. Caroline Swaffield | Amazing Face Dorset www.amazing-face.co.uk FINDING THE ONE I’m nervous about my first bridal appointment. What can I expect? Nearly all our brides are nervous about their first appointment, so you’re not alone! When looking for boutiques, have a little search on the shop’s website and social media pages before booking an appointment; this will give you insight into what each shop offers. Don’t worry if you don’t know what styles you’re after, as it’s the consultant’s job to guide you through the process. The most frequently asked question we get is about what to wear for an appointment. Pick underwear you feel most comfortable and secure in; if that means control shorts, wear them! It’s important you feel like yourself. Your appointment should be fun and relaxed, just like our service. We will start with a drink and a chat to help ease any nerves before we get down to trying the dresses on.
