Your Hampshire and Dorset Wedding - January/February 2022 (Issue 90)

TRADITION Timeless Rhinefield House in the picturesque New Forest provided the perfect backdrop for Abby and John’s wedding celebration Images courtesy of Ben Goode Work first brought Abby and John together. She’s a nurse and he’s a doctor and they were in the same department together briefly before meeting up again the following year for a coffee. They clicked, she fell for his humour and kindness and he was attracted not only by her looks, but her generous, caring nature too. “From our first date his dry sense of humour made me laugh and has done ever since,” adds Abby. They were together for two-and-a-half years before John asked her to marry him. It happened on holiday in Bora Bora, almost exactly a year after she’d moved up to Yorkshire with him for work. “We were staying on a boat travelling the islands with family and one morning at sunrise John and I went over to a tiny uninhabited island for a swim and he got down on one knee,” she reveals. “I had an idea it was going to happen at some point but the actual proposal was a complete surprise. It was intimate and very special with just the two of us on the sandbank island.” They were married on 11th September, 2021 at St John’s Church Rownhams in Hampshire, followed by a reception at Rhinefield House Hotel, Brockenhurst.
