Your Hampshire and Dorset Wedding - January/February 2021 (Issue 84)

THE FINISHING TOUCH The right accessories can make the world of difference and special occasion wear specialists No.6 Boutique in Dorchester has some new must-see lines in stock, including a classic jewellery collection. “The first thing my customers ask when they’ve chosen their outfit is what jewellery to wear. So it’s the perfect opportunity to be able to offer advice and jewellery to complement their outfit,” says owner Sandra Swain. She also offers a selection of faux fur bridal and occasion wear stoles, capes and shoulder wraps to not only keep the chills at bay, but add a touch of glamour too. “Made locally by a family-run business using quality fabrics this beautiful collection feels like pure luxury,” adds Sandra. “My hope is that from spring we can begin to relax and feel confident in moving forward with wedding plans and once again mums can enjoy their special time choosing their outfit for their daughter or son’s wedding.” Visit www.boutiqueatno6.co.uk There’ll always be cake Whatever the size of your wedding there’s something to suit all when it comes to the cake and Hampshire- based Cocoa & Whey Cakes caters for everything from sweet to savoury showstoppers. For the year ahead owner Penelope Hurst predicts single-tier wedding cakes with matching boxed mini versions, macarons and cupcakes will be popular, especially while restrictions are in place. She says, “Single-tier cakes can still be beautiful and impressive and couples can have great fun choosing bespoke boxed favour designs echoing different colours and sugar decorations from the main design.” Other key trends to look out for include edible and pressed flower decorations, coloured ganache cakes, continued love for buttercream, fondant designs in darker shades with contrasting pastel flowers as well as gold edging and details. “Vegan cakes are increasingly popular too with many couples also choosing savoury mini cakes and cupcakes to go with their main centrepiece, often decorated with fresh and edible herbs,” adds Penelope. The historic Hampshire venue has introduced a live streaming service so couples can share their big day with family and friends from near and far. Built between 1408 and 1411, the Great Barn is one of the South Coast’s most historic venues, reputedly visited by Shakespeare and also Henry V on his way to the battle of Agincourt. With oak beams and impressive architecture, it’s not only heritage that’s at the heart of the venue though, the live streaming service adds an extra something new to its attractions. With three different packages available, each tailored to suit you, streaming is via a single fixed camera, two or more fixed cameras or by a cameraman, depending on the package you choose. A week prior to the ceremony, a private link is sent for sharing with family and friends who can then tune in on the day and watch the magic unfold live online. You’ll also be able to get an HD recording after the wedding so you can relive the moments time and time again. To find out more about weddings at the Great Barn visit www.greatbarnweddings.co.uk FROM HELPING HAND TO BIG CHIEF After cutting her teeth helping out at Chair Covers of Hampshire as a teenager, Emma Dzenis ended up taking over the company. The seeds were sown in the early days when the business was owned by a friend of her mum’s and her love for the wedding industry has grown ever since. She’s seen the business transform from a small unit to larger premises with more items for hire, diversifying from just chair covers and sashes to a whole range of decorative items and props for the big day. After finishing college she took on other full- time work but her heart was still in weddings. She dreamed of running the company from the age of 18 when it was up for sale but she wasn’t in a position to act on it. “I’ve had the idea in my head ever since and at 30 years old it finally became a reality!” With Emma at the helm, the company now offers backdrops, chair hire, centrepieces, aisle carpets and much more. She also plans to add new products and will be keeping her eye firmly fixed on the latest industry trends. For further details visit www.chaircoversofhampshire.co.uk www.duk ephotography.co.uk 10
