Your Hampshire and Dorset Wedding - September/October 2020 (Issue 82)

REAL WEDDINGS 45  As a special personal touch my sister and maid-of-honour made vegan peanut butter cups in rose gold cases as favours which we alternated with raspberry and lemon macarons in laser-cut boxes. The table plan was designed to complement the 1920s-style centrepieces and place names and to reflect the venue’s Gatsby Ballroom. The centrepieces were large tall vases of white ostrich feathers with pink orchids and sparkly gems alternating with ivory roses and hydrangeas, burgundy roses, pink orchids and peonies. I wanted the room to deliver the wow factor as soon as our guests walked in. Old Thorns was perfect for our whole celebration. The setting was beautiful, it had a chapel and was conveniently located for most of our guests with plenty of accommodation which was great as I have a big family. Our three-tier semi-naked cake matched the wedding colours and included gold leaf decoration topped with ivory macrons accented in gold glitter. A hexagon cake hoop entwined with fairy lights made it a real focal point.
