Your Hampshire and Dorset Wedding - May/June 2020 (Issue 80)

42 42  REAL WEDDINGS Home IS WHERE THE heart is Kelly and Daniel celebrated their big day surrounded by all their nearest and dearest Images courtesy of Razor Blade Weddings W hen it came to choosing where to marry, there was only one choice for Kelly – the church in the parish where she grew up. It took a while to get down the aisle though; 10 years in fact. She first met the love of her life, known to everyone as Bull, on a night out in Southampton. “There was an instant attraction on both our parts,” she recalls. Eight years later, he popped the question while they were on holiday in Majorca. They were watching the World Cup game where England beat Panama six goals to one, spirits were high, the drinks were flowing and before she knew it, he was down on one knee! “We were with Derek and Aoife, a couple from Ireland who we’d made friends with. Bull had secretly told them he planned to propose to me that evening and they convinced him there was no time like the present! When it happened I was in complete shock, I thought he was joking at first, until I saw the ring he was struggling to get out of his pocket. I realised then he was serious and obviously, I said ‘yes’! “We continued the celebrations and had a brilliant night and although it may not sound like the most romantic proposal, I am so glad it happened that way as it was so us! I was also really pleased that Bull had asked my dad’s permission before we jetted off on holiday. We kept in contact with Derek and Aoife afterwards and they even came to our wedding!” Read on for Kelly’s account of the big day… Kelly and Daniel (Bull) Cartwright tied the knot at St Matthews Church, Netley Marsh followed by a reception at Courtyard Events Moor Court Farm, Romsey on 27 th July, 2019.
