Your Hampshire & Dorset Wedding - Nov/Dec 2019 (Issue 77)

REAL WEDDINGS 35  looked the part in a matching outfit and bow tie for his role as ring bearer. “Having our dog with us on our big day made it extra special,” says Jenna. THE DECORATIVE DETAILS All-white flowers were used to reflect the simple elegant theme. Jenna’s bouquet was a large hydrangea bloom encircled with gypsophila and the buttonholes were made to match. For the reception, the tables were decorated with tall vases of large white roses and hydrangeas, candelabra, flower rings and a scattering of diamanté, rose petals and flickering candles. Jenna created the seating plan using a vintage mirror trimmed with flowers and foliage, and a gold script added the luxe effect to the table and place names. White chiffon chair covers with diamanté brooches were the finishing touch. “We also had a monogram of our initials for the invitations which we used throughout the wedding in keeping with the theme,” says Jenna. Their four-tier cake was decorated with a lace-effect border, handmade bows, flowers and pearls, topped with bride and groom sloths in a nod to their Costa Rica engagement. TIME TO CELEBRATE In keeping with the elegant tone of their day, afternoon tea was served on white and gold vintage china for the wedding breakfast, followed by a relaxed barbecue outside later on. “The DJ made sure there was music playing in the background the whole time and to help bring all our family and friends together in the evening, we had a Mr and Mrs quiz. The beautiful grounds gave everyone chance to wander and we also set up a football goal and giant Jenga for the children who loved being able to play and run around freely,” recalls Jenna. They also wowed their guests with a choreographed first dance which they’d been practising for months in their living room. “We had dance lessons to surprise everyone on the night and it was great to see their reactions,” adds Jenna.
