These lovebirds met the modern way, on Tinder, after Caelan’s photo with his pet poodle caught Amber’s attention and sparked their first conversation. The rest was history! Five years later, on their anniversary, Caelan proposed on the edge of Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh. Amber had a strange feeling before the trip as Caelan was up all night feeling unwell, yet insisted they go. “Something just didn’t feel right,” Amber recalls, “but I couldn’t put my finger on it.” The day began with a casual wander through Edinburgh’s charming streets, coffee in hand, and a visit to The Real Mary King’s Close. Afterwards, Caelan insisted they return to their Airbnb for a jumper despite already having two in his bag. “I thought he was just having a weird clothing day,” Amber recalls. Later, under a bright sunny sky, they made their way to Arthur’s Seat. Caelan, usually a slow walker, was suddenly racing up the hill. That’s when Amber knew something big was coming! At the summit, crowded with tourists, Caelan led them to a quieter spot on the edge for a private view. There, with the wind whipping around them, he dropped to one knee. “It was a beautiful, chaotic moment filled with love, joy, and a little panic with the ring in the wind,” Amber comments. After the excitement of becoming engaged, they planned the most perfect wedding surrounded by loved ones! SETTING THE SCENE Caelan and Amber’s number one goal for their wedding was simple: to make the day about them. “We wanted to celebrate us, our relationship and journey, without worrying about trying to please everyone else,” the bride shares. With that intention at the heart of everything, they envisioned a day that was intimate, meaningful and deeply personal, shared only with their closest family and friends. The couple’s love for history, detail, and anything vintage naturally guided them to Stansted House. It was only the second venue they visited, but they knew instantly it was perfect. With its preserved features, rich royal history, and the trust’s clear passion for maintaining its beauty, the house felt like more than just a venue –it felt like a cause worth supporting. From the graceful Bessborough Suite overlooking endless fields to the unique Grade I chapel, the character-filled basement chambers for the evening, and the cosy dining room, every space resonated with them. Every detail of the day reflected the pair’s story. Guests received wedding favours of rose quartz for its symbolism of love and compassion, and thistle as a nod to Scotland where Caelan proposed and where half his family hails from. The table plan centred around the fireplace, with loved ones gathered around smaller tables, creating a romantic and welcoming atmosphere. Amber’s bouquet featured white avalanche roses, gypsophila, spray roses, white ranunculus, green pittosporum and soft ruscus for a simple, timeless arrangment wrapped with a ribbon made from offcuts of all the dresses. Thistles were woven into the arrangements and buttonholes, a subtle tribute to Caelan’s Scottish roots. Shades of blue in the flowers tied in with the bridesmaids’ dresses and added a gentle touch of colour to the overall theme. The cake was minimalist, inspired by early 2000s styles. Rather than commissioning something elaborate, the lovebirds opted for plain cakes from Waitrose, lovingly decorated by Caelan’s mum and aunt, adding a special, homemade touch. Even the transport had meaning: the groom’s first car, the one he picked Amber up in on their first date and where they shared their first kiss after their third, became the wedding car. With nearly 150,000 miles on the clock, it drew laughs and added a sentimental, light-hearted note to the day. The couple chose summery, countryside-inspired mains for the meal, and served the cake as dessert. Simple, British and in perfect harmony with the elegance of the house. 25 REAL WEDDINGS
