Your Hampshire and Dorset Wedding - May/June 2025 (Issue 110)

A fun touch was homemade golden tickets at each seat, allowing guests to “pay” for unlimited sweets at the sweet shop. There was a full-service bar to keep the celebrations going, and for evening food, guests enjoyed burgers and fries. As part of the carnival theme, there was a candyfloss and an ice cream station, adding a nostalgic touch for all. There was almost a cake disaster when the original baker pulled out last minute, but the bride’s mother-in-law saved the day. The two-tiered cake (white chocolate raspberry and Oreo) was a hit, with only half the bottom tier left. Iko and Liam baked homemade treats, including Oreo brownies and white chocolate pistachio blondies. It was a nice personal touch, and they loved seeing guests enjoy what they had made. LOOKING THE PART Iko purchased her wedding dress from ASOS, saying, “It was such a great find, as I always wanted a simple dress. I made a few personal touches to make it mine. I changed the sleeves to sheer material for a more delicate look and had the wrists custom-stitched with our initials and wedding date, which felt special. My seamstress, Angela, made all this happen with minimal fuss!” To complete her look, the bride wore a custom cathedrallength veil from Etsy, embroidered with the wedding date, a meaningful Bible verse, and “Till Death Do Us Part.” It was a unique piece that added so much sentiment to the day. Her shoes were Manolo Blahniks, the perfect touch of elegance, and at the last minute, she added a tiara. Once in her dress, Iko felt incredible as everything came together perfectly. The wedding party looked amazing! The bridesmaids wore green, with the maid-of-honour in a different shade and style to stand out. The mothers also wore green, creating a lovely, coordinated look. The groomsmen and best man wore classic black tuxedos. Liam stood out in a dark green jacket, adding a stylish touch, while the best man wore the same style but in black. Later, the newlyweds changed into traditional Nigerian attire. The men wore green kaftans, while the women wore a different print with green touches. Liam and Iko wore rich burgundy outfits, which looked stunning against the green tones. Guests loved the outfit change! Iko adds, “I did have a shorter dress and custom trainers to change into after, but we were having too much fun that I forgot. I ripped my Nigerian outfit dancing—that’s how much fun I had!” TIME TO CELEBRATE The couple wanted guests to have an amazing time, so they put a lot of thought into ensuring there was plenty of entertainment throughout the day! For the ceremony, they had the UK Gospel Choir performing all the songs, and they were incredible. Iko comments, “I could not stop crying anytime they sang. It was such a powerful and joyful experience, and our guests still talk about it to this day! They were enjoying it so much that when we left the church, the choir was still singing, and the guests waited for them to finish before coming outside to greet us! It was hilarious and just showed how much everyone loved them.” For the reception, the couple had a mix of fun and interactive entertainment, including dodgems, an outdoor dancefloor, lawn games, a photo taxi booth and an outdoor sweet shop. 34
