Rebecca’s father-in-law said the best thing about the wedding was how happy she was and how much she was smiling. The bride says, “You just feel so loved by everybody there, and it’s the best feeling seeing all the people you love in one place and knowing that you’ve brought them all together. I was so worried about one table that we had to mix with our different friendship groups, but they ended up being the loudest table! Every 10 minutes, they seemed to toast a cheer. “I had a disaster the morning of my wedding. The story’s moral is to listen to your bridal party when they say don’t steam anything on the morning of your wedding. A bridesmaid steaming the dresses needed to get her hair and make-up done, so I offered to take over to pull my weight. After steaming, I thought to myself that something smelt nice. I sniffed the steamer, clearly not thinking straight, which steamed right into my nose and ended up burning it. I sat with an ice pack on my face for the next hour, had a cry and called Owen, saying the pain was too bad to get married. After a prosecco or two, I pulled myself together, but I was cross with myself for nearly ruining the day, and it did put a damper on the morning when getting ready. I can thankfully laugh now, but to other brides, do not steam anything!” The staff at the venue, especially the wedding coordinator, were excellent and definitely made the day extra special. “It felt so good not to have to worry about anything from setting up and any guest requirements on the day”, says the bride. She continues, “Our photographer also made the day for us. She was a massive hit with all of our guests, and because of this, I felt she captured the most natural, happy photos of everyone. With both of us not being huge camera people, she made us feel completely at ease and allowed us to enjoy having our photos taken. It has since made me realise how important it is to have a photographer that you’re entirely comfortable with as you’ll spend so much time with them, and they are a tremendous support when you’re feeling nervous and unsure what to expect! Sam was a huge help during the burning incident too.” HONEYMOON After the wedding, the couple jetted off to Dubrovnik in Croatia and absolutely loved it! Rebecca says, “We didn’t want to pay out for a huge honeymoon, having spent lots on the wedding and just bought a house the month before, although it did end up being rather comparable in price! We have no regrets about choosing Dubrovnik as it was so friendly and had a great mix of beaches. We stayed seven nights in a hotel five minutes from the old walls and overlooked the old town. It was beautiful at night and very picturesque. It has now made us want to visit more places in Croatia. After such a busy year of planning the wedding and continuing to build Owen’s business, it was also a much-needed holiday for us to spend time together! Despite being a honeymoon, it was also a great holiday.” 37 REAL WEDDINGS
