Your Herts and Beds Wedding - February/March 2026 (Issue 114)

the late 1800s sat at the centre of the arch, flanked by raised boxes displaying cowboy boots and hats. Guests were even encouraged to arrive wearing something Western-inspired. A Western-style horsebox served drinks, with the supplier creating a themed drinks display for the reception. To stay true to the vibe, the couple chose a barbecue for their wedding breakfast, followed by a relaxed table buffet in the evening. LOOKING THE PART Lizzie wore a Madi Lane dress called Harper, which featured a beautiful meadow-flower design around the bottom. “I tried a few dresses on, but this one just looked stunning and totally fitted the theme of our wedding,” says Lizzie. “My footwear choice was a pair of ivory ankle cowboy boots called Ponderosa from The Bluebird Boutique.” Darren wore a neutral beige suit from M&S with a sage green tie, adding a brown cowboy hat and bolo tie later in the day, and the groomsmen matched. The maid-of-honour, Darren’s sister Dawn, looked beautiful in a dress from Apricot. TIME TO CELEBRATE Country music played throughout the day, and the lovebirds created their own games to entertain guests. These included Tin Can Alley, Limbo, Giant Jenga, quoits, and Corn Hole. A giant cowboy/ cowgirl stretch canvas allowed guests to pop their faces through for fun photo moments. The whole day was filled with wonderful moments, but the standout highlight was when the couple’s nephew, Edward Brookes, played and sang during the wedding barbecue. He performed I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You by Elvis Presley and moved most of the guests to tears with the performance. The day was full of love, laughter and Western charm, where every detail reflected the couple’s love story and the joy they share with family and friends. REAL WEDDINGS 39
