Your Herts and Beds Wedding - February/March 2026 (Issue 114)

This couple met through the dating app Bumble and instantly hit it off. Just like that, their love story began. Darren popped the question on a walk in North Wales called the Precipice Walk near Dolgellau. He had hidden the ring inside a small bag and completely surprised Lizzie. He got down on one knee at a beautiful viewpoint overlooking Cadair Idris Mountain and Barmouth Bay. Of course, she said “yes”! SETTING THE SCENE When it came to choosing their wedding venue, Mill Farm in Gamlingay instantly felt right. Surrounded by fields and offering a completely blank canvas, it had the relaxed country vibe the couple were hoping for. It was the perfect backdrop for the Western setting they’d envisioned, giving them the freedom to create something unique, personal and truly special. They kept their colour palette soft and romantic, with sage green, blush pink and ivory running throughout the day. The theme came to life with a striking giant tipi for a rustic touch, paired with wagon wheels, cowboy boots and hats, hay bales, whiskey barrels, a fire pit with blankets and even a whiskey and cigar table. Guests were welcomed by an A-frame chalkboard sign and table plan, plus a handmade pallet displaying the order of the day. In the evening, a dress-up area offered cowboy hats and fun accessories for everyone to enjoy. Tables were styled with ceramic cowboy boots, log slices, bud vases of flowers and wooden hearts, while all the stationery was lovingly handcrafted by Lizzie in the wedding colours. Cowboy-boot bottle openers, western-style throws over the hay bales, a rustic round rug in the ceremony barn and a handmade wooden arch adorned with flowers all added to the atmosphere.
