Your Herts and Beds Wedding - June/July 2025 (Issue 110)

BUNKERS BARN 07979 057 132 | www.bunkersbarn.co.uk The Farm, a cherished part of the Bunker family for more than a century, is now run by Lawrence and his partner, who were married in the barn themselves in 2014. Drawing from personal experience and a decade of hosting weddings, they offer couples a warm, personalised service rooted in family tradition. The venue’s journey began more than 25 years ago when Lawrence’s parents transformed the old cow shed and grain barn into a unique celebration space. Renovations in 2020 further enhanced the venue and surrounding landscape. The 18th-century barn and its light-filled extension accommodate up to 120 seated guests, with room for an additional 80 evening guests. It also suits more intimate gatherings, with indoor and outdoor ceremony options available. Couples are free to collaborate with their chosen suppliers to bring their vision to life. The adjoining paddock, home to friendly sheep and set against a peaceful rural backdrop, offers a safe play space for children and a scenic spot for drinks and photographs. To ensure a relaxed and enjoyable experience, couples are given access to the venue two days ahead for setup. The hire package includes a fully licensed and staffed bar with custom drinks packages, whether that means a Champagne reception or buckets of bottled beer. A fully equipped catering kitchen is available for use by any caterer, and the venue is happy to recommend trusted local suppliers. Whether opting for a formal meal or relaxed dining, the flexibility is yours. Included with the venue is exclusive access to a two-bedroom cottage from the morning of the wedding through the night. With an open-plan kitchen, bathroom, and garden connecting to the venue, it’s the perfect space for preparation and celebration. MICKLEFIELD HALL 01923 778 898 | www.micklefieldhall.com Set within 350 acres of rolling Hertfordshire countryside, Micklefield Hall is an elegant and exclusive wedding venue with a warm, family-run atmosphere. Managed by Jamie and Anna Rankin, who live on-site in the manor house, the venue offers a blend of privacy, efficiency, and charm. At the heart of the estate is The Great Barn, a beautifully restored space overlooking landscaped gardens with far-reaching views. Just two miles from the M25 (Junction 18), Micklefield is easily accessible yet feels wonderfully secluded. Every wedding at Micklefield is bespoke, with the barn and extensive gardens offered for exclusive use on your special day. Civil ceremonies can be held in a variety of licensed spaces, including The Great Barn, Garden Room, Orangery, Main Lawns, and the picturesque Temple by the pond. For couples planning both a civil and religious ceremony, an additional ceremony fee applies. Included in the venue hire are essential facilities such as lighting, a catering space, a dancefloor, a stage, tables, chairs, and a sound system. The Bridal Suite – complete with kitchen, shower, and dressing room – is available from 8 am, offering a luxurious space to prepare. A separate Groom’s Room on the roof of the barn ensures privacy before ceremonies for the men. The on-site bar sits beside the barn, featuring a curated mix of classic and local favourites. Outdoor drinks receptions and photo opportunities abound, with sweeping lawns, parkland, and even a designated helicopter landing area. The Orangery, adjacent to the terrace, offers a light-filled indoor alternative for receptions or breakout spaces. Catering is provided by Kalm Kitchen, led by chef James Middlehurst and creative director Jen. Their long-standing partnership with Micklefield ensures a seamless culinary experience. Six individually-styled bedrooms in the converted Cow Barn provide luxurious on-site accommodation, each thoughtfully named and decorated by members of the Rankin family. www.two-d.co.uk www.sarahleggephotography.co.uk BARN VENUES 23
