Your Herts and Beds Wedding - February/March 2024 (Issue 102)

REAL WEDDINGS 29 These lovebirds met at ASOS in 2017, a few months after Chloe had started at the company. Two of her friends spotted Jack, who had just completed his induction, and they knew he would be her type! Chloe says, “It wasn’t long before they acted as our dating gurus, and we shortly exchanged numbers. A week later, Jack organised a brilliant date night at Cote in St Albans, and it was clear after our first date we were attracted to one another. We had lots in common with the same life values.” Jack got down on one knee at the top of The Shard, where he popped the question during a magical nightb out. “I don’t think he expected it to be that busy, and I noticed his nerves leading up to the moment”, says Chloe. She continues, “It was a total surprise, and I couldn’t believe he bought my dream ring – I just remember bursting into happy tears! He arranged for my sister and her partner to be part of the day, who captured the moment to treasure. Shortly after, we went to Madison in London for a celebratory meal before getting a limo ride back to his parents, where our families were waiting for an organised celebration. Jack had also secretly spoken to my boss and booked me a week off work, whisking me to the New Forrest for a week-long celebration in our private woodland cabin. On our way home, we stopped off via his nanna’s, where we were able to tell her directly our news – she was absolutely thrilled for us both!” SETTING THE SCENE As the couple became engaged on July 17th 2021, they decided to get married exactly two years later! Their number one goal was to ensure they had a day full of fun, laughter and happiness surrounded by the people they loved. So, the couple had a cocktail bar, a jazzy entrance to the wedding breakfast, a photo booth, foam lights for the evening boogie and ensured the dancefloor was never empty. Looking back today, they genuinely wouldn't have changed a thing. A couple of years into the relationship before Jack proposed, Chloe knew she would tie the knot at Micklefield Hall after seeing the property on Instagram. She loved how couples could get married outside at the venue's gorgeous little temple in front of a stunning pond – it looked perfect! Shortly after the proposal, the couple visited the property and were blown away! The bride says, "Not only was the venue as stunning as we'd both hoped, but the owners and staff were lovely. Anna, Jamie and Abbie, the wedding coordinator, were so helpful from start to finish. On the day, Abbie worked her socks off to ensure everything went without a hitch and was born for this role. The couple wanted to ensure everyone was comfortable at the wedding breakfast, so they arranged the tables by couples and friendship groups. Andrew Flemming created gorgeous arrangements for all tables and centrepieces. For the bridal bouquet, Chloe chose the sunset colours to match the colour scheme, the bridesmaids' orange dresses and bouquets full of white roses and the groomsmen's ties. The venue's beautiful chandeliers were decorated by Andrew using beautiful white wisteria. To ensure everyone had a little treat to enjoy, the couple decided to get creative and personalise some iced biscuits with 'Mr and Mrs Shipton' alongside the wedding date. They also provided all the guests with limoncello/tequila rose shots for the final wedding breakfast toast. The newlyweds used Micklefield Hall’s recommended suppliers and went with a company called Kalm Kitchen for the catering. Their food throughout the day was absolutely delicious, and all the guests
