www.gett yimages.co.uk Q&A Beauty These talented local make-up artists reveal all YOU GLOW, GIRL! Meet the expert: Niamh Ford is an award-winning make-up artist covering weddings throughout the regions. How can I prepare for my bridal make-up trial? Niamh says: As a professional make-up artist, many of my brides ask me this question. Before attending your bridal make-up trial, research any looks that you like. I encourage my clients to bring along inspiration, for example, photographs found on Instagram. It’s important to find out what you like and what you don’t like. Don’t panic if you have no idea, though! We can discuss how you normally wear your make-up and how you’d change it for an event. We can also consider details of your day so that we can potentially incorporate these into your bridal make-up. For example, if your bouquet is going to feature blush flowers, we can find you the perfect lipstick shade to match. Bringing along photographs of your dress, shoes, accessories and colour theme can be very helpful. I always ask my brides-to-be to arrive with a freshly cleansed face so that we can begin with a blank canvas. During your bridal trial, I can offer skincare advice, should you need it. Small, consistent changes introduced into your daily routine will deliver beautiful results. On your wedding day, you’ll want to look and feel your very best and often skincare can be overlooked. Taking time to improve your regime is so important and will only help you to achieve the ultimate bridal glow. ABSOLUTELY FLAWLESS Meet the expert: Emily David is a bridal make-up specialist and hair stylist based in Melksham, Wiltshire. As the current restrictions in place ease, what are the summer trends for bridal make-up? Emily says: Two key looks are set to be trending this summer and the first is a sun-kissed bronze glow. To create this, I recommend applying a smoky bronze shade on your eyelids like the Voyageur Eyeshadow Palette in Suede from Nars. Next, add Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Brick Compact in Bronze, an ultra-fine brush-on powder, to your cheeks. Gently build the colour for a radiant look and don’t forget to dab some on the end of your nose and your forehead. Finally, line your natural lip line with Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Pillow Talk by Charlotte Tilbury and fill in the colour with the new Hyaluronic Happikiss lipstick, also in the classic Pillow Talk shade. The second trend this summer is all about adding pops of vibrant bold colour. Firstly, apply a good-quality foundation like Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Foundation available in more than 44 shades. Mix it with Wonderglow Primer, also by Charlotte Tilbury, to achieve a fresh, dewy glow. This provides a good base and then, if you want to build up colour, it’s all about working with complementary tones. I highly recommend the Liquid Blush in Torrid by Nars which is a shimmering coral creme blush that works beautifully on dark and light skin tones. Whatever lipstick shade you pick to finish your look, make sure it’s a strong one. My top tip is to be sure to finish with a good setting spray like Prep + Prime by Mac, especially in warmer weather. For your hair, why not opt for a sleek and shiny side bun with plenty of volume which works well with a bronzed look? Finish with a shine spray like L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.ART Ring Light, the first micro-dispersed professional spray for the lightest effect. If you’re blessed with natural curls, I’d recommend using a Moroccan curl defining cream and finish by adding a little glamour with a jewelled hair slide.
