The sweeping drive leads to the main entrance of the house, which features an impressive portico, and surrounding the property is a walled garden with an orchard, a secret fairy garden, rose temple and rose walk, water garden and a croquet lawn. Ceremonies take place in the drawing room for up to 50 loved ones when restrictions lift. It’s an elegant room with a stunning bay window overlooking the lawn and lake. The dining room can seat up to 60 guests for a ceremony and enjoys windows on both sides, providing a bright, spacious area with two fireplaces and decorative French antiques. Those wanting a religious ceremony can walk to Purton Church which can be accessed along the private church path. The versatile property can be arranged in different ways because all rooms are inter-connected. For small micro weddings, the drawing room and hall can be used for a drinks reception. When restrictions lift, the wedding breakfast can be served in the dining room for up to 50 guests seated at round tables, or 38 gathered on one long one. For the evening reception, a small band can be set up here also, and a marquee can be hired and erected in the space in the grounds for a larger party of up to 120 people. This historic pub – part of the Arkell’s Family Brewers chain – stands close to the main road to Swindon. Whilst it doesn’t have a ceremony licence, couples can enjoy relaxed dining in modern, contemporary surroundings following a local register office wedding.
