Your Gloucestershire and Wiltshire Wedding- October/November 2020 (Issue 23)

We had two large LOVE signs at our wedding. One was a floral one that matched our flowers which we placed in the orangery where we held our reception drinks and canapés, and the other one was illuminated which we placed at the side of the dancefloor. We displayed floral arrangements on the mantelpiece of the fireplace that looked so effective. Our table plan was printed on to a large silver gilt-framed mirror and was placed just outside the dining room. Our order of the day signage followed the same design, also printed on a mirror, and our table numbers were displayed in ornate silver frames. I loved our welcome sign mounted in a floral frame that matched our flower arrangements. When it came to deciding on our wedding menu, the team at Grittleton House were brilliant. They offered us a variety of set menus to choose from but also allowed us to make our own suggestions. John is a real foodie and I prefer simpler dishes so I thought that we would never agree however it was important to both of us to pick a menu that our guests would enjoy. We opted for arancini balls to start, a pork tenderloin dish for the main course and a chocolate delice for dessert. The food was outstanding and we received so many wonderful comments from our guests. We wanted a simple yet elegant wedding cake so decided on a three-tier vanilla sponge and lemon cake decorated with white waves made from sugar paste and white rice paper flowers. John’s mum creates the most amazing cakes so she was able to decorate it for us. Our daughter was our flowergirl and she wore an ivory tulle dress with a satin bow at the back. Our sweetie table went down a treat! REAL WEDDINGS 35 
