REAL WEDDINGS 37  C harlotte and Rhys met at his work Christmas drinks where they were introduced through mutual friends. They became engaged in a surprise proposal during a romantic trip to Venice. “When Rhys got down on one knee to propose, it was such a surprise that I thought he was joking and walked away at first!” Charlotte tells us. SETTING THE SCENE The couple chose Lapstone Barn as their venue because of its mix of rustic and modern décor. “It’s such a beautiful venue,” Charlotte tells us, “we both fell in love with it.” They chose a mix of grey, blue and white accessories to complement the barn and personalised their day with a nod to their pets. “We have a cavapoo and a golden retriever so these were the inspiration behind our table plan,” Charlotte explains. “We showcased each table name with a black and white photograph of that breed of dog attached to a glass bottle presented on a circular mirrored plate and each place name was secured to a wine glass using a small wooden peg.”
