REAL WEDDINGS 31  A nastasia and Joseph met through work in 2013. “It only took him six years to propose,” Anastasia tells us. “When he did, it was an incredible moment. We were in the Lake District, and he was flying a drone over Lake Windermere with the engagement ring tied to the bottom of it! The whole experience was recorded.” SETTING THE SCENE The couple married a little under a year after the proposal in a lavish wedding held in a marquee. “It was magical,” Anastasia tells us. “It was Joseph’s choice to have a quintessential Cotswold wedding, while it was always my dream to be married in a stunning Greek Orthodox Church.” The couple wanted to hold a black tie wedding reception with a party atmosphere full of guests dancing and drinking, and that’s exactly what they achieved. “Our split-level marquee was the ideal choice for our day,” Anastasia tells us. “It had a reveal curtain, which opened in the evening to showcase a Greek live band playing – that really kickstarted our party. We also had a starlit dancefloor and a feature circular bar.” The couple opted for a sophisticated, elegant theme with a nod to Greek traditions and styled their day with lots of decorative touches. “I created our macaroon wedding favours, the confetti cones and designed the wedding menus,” Anastasia tells us. “These detailed our wedding breakfast, which consisted of Cornish crab and Atlantic tiger prawn salad to start, a fillet of Aberdeen Angus beef as the main and a trio of rich chocolate torte as the dessert.” The couple chose a traditional four-tier iced wedding cake, made using four different flavours. “Our guests loved the chocolate, vanilla sponge, lemon and fruit cake,” Anastasia says. “It was decorated with fresh flowers from Cirencester-based florist Oops a daisy!” The elegant bridal and bridesmaids’ bouquets, buttonholes, bridesmaids’ flower circlets, tall vase centrepieces and spectacular top table display were designed by Oops a daisy! They also created the garlands framing the church door and the welcome sign and worked with varieties including avalanche roses, pale blue delphinium, eucalyptus and olive foliage. LOOKING THE PART “From the moment we got engaged, I was on Pinterest looking at wedding dresses,” Anastasia tells us. “I always imagined I would choose a lace fishtail NO ORDINARY day Anastasia and Joseph’s elegant Cotswold wedding incorporated a Greek twist Images courtesy of Nikki Kirk Photography
