Your Glos and Wilts Wedding - October/November 2019 (Issue 17)

We round up romantic, magical barn venues in both regions RAISING THE ROOF CASTERLEY BARN, PEWSEY, WILTSHIRE This wedding and events venue is situated on the Rushall Organics Estate, surrounded by wildflower meadows and fields, and is ideal for hosting outdoor games during summer celebrations or a grand finale firework display. The ethos behind the estate and barn is sustainable living, with electricity generated through roof-mounted solar panels feeding a battery bank, and the underfloor and water heating is provided by an on-site biomass boiler, with water coming from a well on the farm. It’s an ideal venue for weddings all year, with indoor and outdoor ceremonies both options. Up to 150 guests can gather outside around the pagoda, or up to 100 can be seated in the main hall. The wedding breakfast takes place here for up to 150 loved ones, as does the evening reception for up to 200 people. The mezzanine is best suited to intimate dinners and receptions hosting up to 17 guests, and this space can be used as a chill-out area. LAPSTONE BARN, CHIPPING CAMPDEN, GLOUCESTERSHIRE This exclusive-use 18 th -century Cotswold stone barn is an all-inclusive wedding and party venue. Its south-facing lawns and manicured grounds, featuring extensive views of the surrounding countryside and North Cotswolds, offer the ideal spot for garden games during summer nuptials or mulled wine and canapés during more autumnal celebrations. The English courtyard garden, with its fountain, clipped hedges and pretty rose and lavender flowerbeds, provides a beautiful big-day backdrop for those all-important photographs. Ceremonies take place in the Stone Barn, which has timber beams and oak floors, for up to 200 guests. Alternatively, an outdoor ceremony, also for up to 200 loved ones, can be held in the courtyard garden. There’s also a church less than two miles away for couples wanting a traditional ceremony. Northwick Barn plays host to up to 200 guests for the wedding breakfast and reception. Long or round tables can be set up, and it’s a blank canvas for couples to style as they wish. There’s also the Tanner’s Bar, featuring a log burner, and The Snug, a cosy space for guests to chill out in. ❤ We love… that the outdoor pagoda can be styled to suit any wedding theme. ❤ We love… the Hayloft, a luxury bridal dressing room available from 10am on the morning of the wedding.
