69 EXPERT ADVICE Our experts give their advice to help you look your big-day best Q&A ALL ABOUT THAT BASE I don’t tend to wear make-up often but want to feel extra special on our big day. How can I create the perfect natural look without it feeling too heavy? There are two pieces of advice I’d give; the first being that there’s no time like the present to invest in your skincare. If you look after your skin, that’s half the battle when it comes to make-up application! The earlier you invest in a regime, the more time you’ve got to tweak it to be perfect. Your make-up will look so much smoother once applied and you’ll find you won’t need as much product. The next piece of advice would be to invest in a setting spray; my favourite is Urban Decay’s All Nighter Setting Spray – it’s my faithful friend in my kit! A few spritzes of this throughout your make-up application will keep everything in place all day. If you invest in skincare and use a setting spray as well as practising the make-up look – you’ll be onto a winner. How can I achieve this?  There are a few tricks that can be used to make fine and limp hair appear thicker and more voluminous. The most obvious would be to add extensions that this and add length. I prefer to work with clip-in extensions as opposed to pre-bonded ones as the pieces can be added exactly where it’s needed and therefore much easier to hide. There also isn’t the maintenance that comes with pre-bonded ones. Using padding in your bun is a great way to add volume to your style and makes it appear as if you have more hair. Another great trick for adding volume is to use micro crimpers through the roots and mid-lengths; this helps add height to the style as well as an airy texture. Team this with some volumising powder on the roots plus a bit of backcombing and you’ll have the perfect style. There’s no best time to look for your wedding gown. Times have changed drastically over the past ten years, and if you wish to have an off-the-peg bridal dress or a made-to-order gown, there’s a lot of choice available for any bride-to-be. It’s a bride’s decision as to whether she wishes to walk into a salon and select a less expensive ex-sample to take away the same day. Or, she might book an appointment and place an order for any current gown of the season. All that’s left to do then is wait for delivery. Most bridal shops nowadays offer both options, including us here at Bradgate Brides. Every customer is given the same personal service whichever route’s selected, and the only ideal outcome for any salon is to have a happy bride, leaving with the perfect gown.
