Your East Midlands Wedding - October/November 2020 (Issue 40)

REAL WEDDINGS 31  cart, tubs of popcorn and ice cream. The bride says, “Just-ice is a charity which donates its profits to child soldier rehabilitation and human traffic prevention. Social justice is something we’re passionate about, and it was awesome to be able to support this charity on our big day.” Each guest got given wildflower seeds to plant and help bees. On each one was stamped ‘Siân and Simon meant to bee’ and included notes saying, ‘Let love grow and help our bees at the same time!’ These doubled up as place names with tags attached to each one. LOOKING THE PART The bride-to-be wore an Anna Kara gown called Gail . She says, “It was beautifully whimsical and made me feel like a woodland princess on the day – I added a little train for extra drama.” The groom and groomsmen all wore different navy blue suits and sage linen ties with brown shoes. Simon stood out with his raspberry buttonhole while the rest had a white and green one.  There were four older bridesmaids who each wore sage chiffon dresses and the three older flowergirls had a white top and sage skirt. The three younger flowergirls had sage tops and white tutus while the littlest one wore an all-white tutu dress. TIME TO CELEBRATE Siân and Simon had a few of their friends play in the day to keep loved ones entertained and DJ in the evening. She says, “Our biggest hit was the photo booth upstairs, which was so fun, and I loved the Mr & Mrs quiz where we went back-to-back to answer a series of questions. Every time we answered the same, we got to move our chairs closer together and ended with a kiss in the middle!” MEMORABLE MOMENTS Many moments stood out to the couple and made their day memorable. Siân comments, “We were humbled to see so many people who had travelled to celebrate with us. There’s nothing more beautiful than that!” A moment that went down well with guests was the first dance, which the couple had practised a couple of times. They picked May I Have This Dance  by Francis and the Lights featuring Chance the Rapper and had the best time doing the salsa to hip hop music.  Many suppliers worked hard to give the nearlyweds the perfect day, but some stood out. Siân says, “Our photographers and videographers made us feel relaxed and were also happy to follow my direction! It was wonderful to have time away from the noise and the party just to breath and take a few moments to be together as a newly married couple.” Unfortunately, the bride’s mother passed away a few months before the wedding, followed by her nan a month later. Siân says, “I could see everything that Mum and I dreamt of and planned together over cups of tea while watching  Say Yes to the Dress  for years. It was amazing to feel so much peace and happiness, knowing that mum was in heaven celebrating.”
