REAL WEDDINGS 25  allow Robert to stand out. The pair’s two granddaughters were bridesmaids and wore multi- coloured dresses with a cerise pink sash while the pageboys (their four grandsons), wore mid-blue shorts with a matching waistcoat and white short-sleeved shirts. MEMORABLE MOMENTS The day itself happened to be the hottest one of the year, but that didn’t stop the pair having the best day. Wendy says: “Neither of us was nervous, which was reflected in the photographs as Hayley our photographer managed to get some amazing pictures. As we are both slightly more mature in age, we took the day in our stride and made the most of it.” Wendy’s son Tom gave her away with the couple enjoying a perfect service – their photographer managed to get some wonderful shots. Wendy adds: “I know how difficult it can be to get little ones to sit still for any length of time, so I didn’t get stressed out when the children started wandering around the church during the service. One of the bridesmaids, Etta, decided she wanted to sit on my knee at one point, and Bear, the youngest pageboy played hide and seek behind the alter with one of the clergymen.” TIME TO CELEBRATE To keep guests entertained, the couple booked a singing waiter. Robert says: “At a given moment, which only Wendy and I knew about, he made his entrance by pretending to trip up and drop a tray full of cutlery on the floor, he certainly got everyone’s attention with all the noise. He then pulled a microphone from his apron, cue music, and started singing Robbie Williams Let Me Entertain You, what a start! He got everyone dancing, singing and even playing air-guitar!” The day consisted of so many beautiful moments, but the main part that really stood out to Robert was seeing Wendy in her beautiful wedding dress and being surrounded by loved ones. He says: “Seeing all of our friends and family seated in the church was special. As Tim, the vicar said beforehand ‘pause and take your time as you’ll never see this view again’.” A lovely touch from the day was when the lovebirds entered the room for the wedding breakfast to Vader March from Star Wars. Wendy comments: “After the wedding and reception, we booked a taxi to take us to Breedon Hall where we spent our wedding night, on the way we diverted to The Star Inn at West Leake and walked into the pub still with our wedding outfits on.” She adds: “Another funny moment was during the wedding breakfast, Etta and Luna swapped shoes with Bear, so we have a fabulous photo of him wearing pink sparkly shoes. He got his own back when he refused to take them off.” The couple were so happy with their photographer, Wendy says: “Hayley captured the day perfectly, she was amazing! Charlotte at Portfolio Events was also great; nothing was too much trouble. She certainly made sure the day went as smoothly as possible.” HONEYMOON To celebrate the new chapter in their lives, the pair jetted off to the beautiful island of Kefalonia in Greece for two weeks. It had been an easy decision for the pair had already visited five times.
