Your East Midlands Wedding - June/July 2020 (Issue 38)

FASHION ICON Q: I’m going dress shopping next month to find the perfect gown, what will I need to consider when looking? Brides-to-be can sometimes get overwhelmed by the whole dress-buying experience, and that’s understandable! So, go somewhere where you and your squad can feel relaxed and totally at ease. Yes, a wedding dress is a major life buy, but it’s also important to think about how you shop best for your clothes in general. Are you always out with your girl gang, or is it just you and your mum, aunt or bestie? Sometimes flying solo for your first appointment is the way to go, and then you can always bring your entourage along to show them your absolute favourites. And most of all, just relax and trust your judgement – you’ve got this! How can I ensure it won’t budge throughout the day? Firstly, I’d say of course choosing a make-up artist who can help you with their skills and kit. However, this isn’t always budget-friendly, and many brides love to DIY as much of their day as possible. My advice would be it’s all in the prep and product. Invest in a good waterproof mascara, such as MAC Extended Play Gigablack, I adore this as it does not budge. Set your undereye with a translucent powder such as Translucent Loose Setting Powder by Laura Mercier, which will ensure even the most emotional of brides doesn’t smudge anything! Give yourself time in the months before to have a trial run and avoid any oily or too creamy products around the eye area.
