84 Q&A Fashion & Beauty Local experts offer advice on how to look your big-day best FLUTTERING LASHES For my wedding, I would love to use false eyelashes to transform my natural ones but I struggle to put them on. Do you have any tips on how to apply them? Lauren says: First of all, it’s important to work out what style and length false eyelashes you want as there’s quite a few on the market. I like the Ardell Wispies for brides as they look natural but add length and a little volume. Make sure to apply them after the rest of the eye makeup is finished, this includes mascara first.  ❤ Before applying, its important to measure the length of the lash band against your lashline, as it may need trimming down. ❤ Using false eyelash applicators, apply the lash glue to the band and wait until the glue goes tacky, which takes around one minute. ❤ Tilt your head back a little and use a handheld mirror to look down – this will allow you to see what you’re doing and help get this product as close to the lashline as possible. ❤ Try and line up the start of the false eyelash with where your natural ones start before allowing the glue to make contact with your lid. I always secure the start and middle of the band before moving down to the outer corner. ❤ If your lashes feel uncomfortable and like they’re not on properly, the best thing to do is remove and reapply! PRIME AND SHINE For our winter wedding, I want to wear eye make-up but I’m worried it will get ruined from the harsh cold winds. What can I do to avoid this happening? Hannah says: You want to be able to enjoy your wedding day without worrying about black tears. I always suggest using long-wearing waterproof products and make sure you’ve primed your eyes ready for eyeshadow. I love to use MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot for a long-wearing base, Bobbi Brown’s gel liners for an eyeliner that doesn’t budge and for mascara Poni Cosmetic’s White Knight Ultimate Mascara is completely waterproof. If anything does move, a great tip is to use a cotton bud and gently wipe away any unwanted marks without ruining the appearance of the make-up. BRIGHT EYES I never wear make-up, but for my wedding day I want to stand out. What colours would go best with my brown hair and blue eyes? Liz says: I recommend using a bit of eye shimmer to create some impact. Sweep a soft shimmer across the lid such as Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Cream Shadow stick in Truffle which is a soft champagne colour that creates a long-wearing base. Then opt for colours such as warm browns and bronzes to complement blue eyes or a darker bronze matte shade in the crease. Highlight the inner corner of your eye with something like Nylon by MAC and finish with a black gel liner and lots of waterproof mascara. If you are fair-skinned, light pink blush and a nude pink lipstick such as Lancome Rouge in Love 240m or Bobbi Brown’s pale pink lip colour will finish off the look beautifully.
