ACCESSORISE AND SHINE When you start choosing hair accessories for a vintage wedding, my first tip would be to decide which decade you would like to take inspiration from – think the ‘20s to ‘70s. The ‘20s to ‘30s are most popular and can both be blended together. Having a bespoke piece made is ideal as you can choose how you would like your piece to look.  Next step would be choosing the hairstyle, which is essential when deciding what to wear in your hair, why not opt for a nice wavy simple look? Think about what materials and colours you want such as lace, feathers and lovely touches such as pearls. Feathers look great in a headband and embossed lace embroidered with pearls, crystals and a hint of colour looks very stylish for a headpiece. Overall, when picking jewellery, it’s really improtant to pick an item you feel comfortable wearing as you’ll probably wear it all day. Don’t choose an item that’s uncomfortable just because it’s vintage and goes with the theme, focus on what you like and feel good wearing.  Amanda O’Brien | Angel Whispers Tiaras | angelwhisperstiarasandmore.co.uk PICTURE PERFECT Winter weddings are a wonderful challenge, the main concern is lack of light which means photographers need to have more preparation in a winter shoot. This really is dependent on when the ceremony is, but most professional cameras can shoot in low light conditions anyway. My couples have generally opted to have their photo shoot before the wedding ceremony. All they’ve got to do is remember to wear their wedding rings for the photographs. All of my couples have been pleasantly surprised by the ease of having wedding photographs taken first; it often serves as a private moment before all eyes are upon them. They feel far more relaxed going into the venue having done this significant thing together. The sunset in December occurs around 4.30pm; I have done midnight weddings with barely any light, so I’m able to work in any situation. I often encourage a spontaneous couple shot if it’s snowing or as a winter sunset falls behind them. It all depends on the mood the couple are wanting and what the photographer can create within the surroundings. A great time to embrace hygge, a Scandinavian word for a mood of cosiness, comfortable warmth, wellness and contentment. When it comes to a menu think foods that make you feel warm, happy and full. We love lots of canapés in place of a starter; different colours, textures and flavours. Alongside a substantial two- course meal, five canapés are just right, some of our winter warming favourites include butternut squash soup shots, spoons of sausage and mash and ripe brie and cranberry tartlets. Have succulent joints of meat presented to guests for them to carve and serve with delicious Yorkshire puddings, hot crispy roasted potatoes and a rich and sumptuous jus. Or why don’t you go for an elegant beef wellington, delicious fillet of beef with mushroom duxelle parma ham wrapped in crisp puff pastry? Served with a glossy red wine jus, fondant potatoes and roasted root vegetables with thyme and garlic. For dessert it has to be sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce – a sweet, rich and indulgent taste. What better dessert can there be on a beautiful winter’s day?
