Your East Midlands Wedding - Dec/Jan 2019 (Issue 35)

REAL WEDDINGS 35  yummy goodness didn’t stop there, pick ’n’ mix stall was available for guests with a sweet tooth.  Becky comments on their transport saying, “For transport, Bill wanted more of a dream car than a classic one. He arranged the hire of a Mercedes for the weekend and we asked a family friend to drive it for us on the day.”  LOOKING THE PART The bride went for a Stella York dress in the style  Ivy because of the pretty lace detailing and flattering design which she knew Bill would love. She says, “Bill went for a dark grey suit with a light grey waistcoat and forest green tie, he decided against tails and hat as he wanted to look more modern.” The groomsmen also had a dark grey suit with matching waistcoat and forest green tie while the bridesmaids had floor-length off-the-shoulder colour coordinating dresses. TIME TO CELEBRATE For entertainment, the newlyweds didn’t want a DJ or disco and instead hired pool tables and arcade games to get guests mingling and laughing – this worked perfectly. Becky says, “We even did our first dance on the aracde dance mat which was so much fun and much less stressful for us. The weather was perfect so guests were also able to play garden games on the grounds before it got dark.”  MEMORABLE MOMENTS The day was full of happiness, celebration and love. But the key moments are clear to the couple and Becky mentions, “Overall, the day stands out as being a perfect embodiment of our relationship and we can keep that memory for the rest of our lives. However, if we had to pick one moment it would be the first dance on the dance machine because we don’t think anyone saw it coming or had seen anything like it. It got the evening started.” They also mention how much their family and friends helped make the day that extra special. Becky says, “We both felt surprisingly calm on the day, this was probably achieved because of all the planning we did up until the last minute but it completely paid off.” She adds, “The advice of friends and family helped us anticipate what to expect and this allowed us to just and enjoy it. People were also so generous with their time helping us in the preparations.” HONEYMOON  After their wedding the couple jetted off to America for three weeks on a road trip from Las Vegas across Death Valley round to Yosemite, then Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. Becky says, “We returned to Las Vegas afterwards to visit the Grand Canyon and then flew to New York for the final part of the holiday staying in Manhattan to take in all the sites of the Big Apple. “I did most of the planning but we decided together the things we wanted to see. It was amazing and we were able to fit in so many activities in that we feel like we need another holiday already! Our favourite part was the Yosemite National Park because it is simply stunning.”
