74 Q&A Fashion & Beauty Our experts give their advice to help you look your big-day best EMPHASISE YOUR BEAUTIFUL CURVES I’m a curvy girl and would love to show off my figure on my wedding day, what styles would best suit my hourglass shape? Anna says: A structured trumpet or fishtail dress will emphasise your hourglass shape and show off your beautiful curves. However, if you’re looking for a more subtle look an A-line dress will accentuate your waist and float elegantly to the floor. It’s important with whichever style that you choose, the dress has good structure to give you support and comfort in the dress. A high back is ideal as this means that you have the option to wear a bra. If you have a large bust a thicker strap will help you feel more supported. An A-symmetrical pattern is ideal if you want to draw the eye away from certain parts of your body that you feel less confident about. Firstly I’d advise not to style freshly washed hair, as this can be a little too soft and silky. Hair that has not been washed that day will hold a curl for much longer and if you feel your hair may be a little greasy, you can always use dry shampoo, or refresh spray. For this look, I was aiming to achieve a bohemian effect. I sectioned off the hair and sprayed each layer with Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS+ Session Hairspray. I then took one-inch strands and curled them with a heated wand until all the hair was curled. Use a long pronged comb or your fingers to separate the curls and add Schwarzkopf Osis plus their Dust It Mattifying Volume Powder to give you a boost of volume. I worked this in with my fingers, complete this through every section until you reach the crown. I’d suggest at least one practice session/trial either by yourself or with your chosen stylist. This way you’ll see how your hair performs whilst styling, and the longevity of the curls. Can you advise on the best routine to get the shine back ready for our big day? Your body needs sleep, a healthy diet and you must keep hydrated for your hair and skin to look it’s very best. To revive hair use a deep moisturising water-based mask treatment once a week. Curly hair needs a bit more effort taking small sections, twisting and gripping them to your head to control those luscious curls. For flaky scalps, use a mask with an anti-fungal ingredient which exfoliates away the dead skin and soothes inflammation. For dull hair, a clarifying shampoo is a great choice as it includes a tea tree ingredient to cleanse your hair. After washing with shampoo and conditioner follow up with a leave-in conditioner which will seal in the moisture with shea butter – working two inches from the root. Don’t wash your hair every day, let the natural oils work their magic. Change your pillow to a satin-based cover this will help reduce any frizz and helps prolong the moisture for shiny-looking locks. Don’t go to bed with wet hair or allow hair to air dry, as hair is at its weakest when wet, breakage and frizz can be a long term correction. Always spritz on the heat protection spray before styling irons or blow-drying, I cannot stress this enough, be kind to your hair! C ontact: Emma Weguelin, enchantedtreatments.co.u k
