72 A mantilla veil is an oval-shaped Spanish-style veil that has a beautiful lace border in all different patterns. Traditionally, it comes in a fingertip-length or cathedral-length veil with a single-tier framing the bride. This romantic style works best for brides who want to achieve a timeless look and are wearing their hair down or low. A fingertip-length veil is a very popular choice that’s light and easy to manage, allowing you to wear it comfortably throughout your reception and first dance without the worry of tripping over it. This stunning veil is the ideal length and shape to suit most dress designs and body shapes – perfect for a flirty and playful bridal. The sophisticated yet playful birdcage veil is lightweight and creates a simple vintage look. It’s normally nine to ten inches long and has large diamond-shaped holes throughout so the brides can see clearly. This style first became popular back in the ’40s and goes extremely well with lace gowns and full-skirted tea-length wedding dresses. A classic bridal veil is U-shaped that’s gathered onto a comb and can have a blusher which is a short single layer that’s placed over the bride's face. This is typically 30-inches long and falls just above the bouquet but can be adjusted to become longer or shorter. Once vows have been exchanged it’s lifted over the face for the ‘you may kiss the bride’ moment! The mother of all veils is the cathedral-length which is the most formal and longest type – normally around 120 to 144-inches long and goes past the train on the dress. We have seen them being used all over the world and even featured in royal weddings, think back to 1984 when the late Princess Diana wore a 7.62 metre veil! If you’re looking to make a statement on your big day then this one might be for you, but make sure you take into consideration the wedding venue because this long veil might not be practical. If this is the case then a chapel-length veil would be a better option, offering a sprinkle of drama that goes all the way to the floor and spreads out a few inches past the dress. ALL THINGS VEILS Jewellery looks different on every person because of our skin tones and when it comes to picking that special jewellery for your wedding, it’s important to understand what colours match you the best. Finding out your skin tone can be tricky and people get it confused with their skin colour. A good trick to knowing and understanding it, is by looking at your veins in natural lighting. If your veins are blue or purple then most likely you have a cool skin tone which goes beautifully with light and white metals such as white gold, platinum and silver. Important gemstones to look out for are red, blue, purple and green colours that go with the skin perfectly. However, if your veins are more green you will have a warm skin tone that will look great with rose gold, copper and brass jewellery. Keep your eyes peeled for any gemstones that are earthy tones like orange, brown, yellow or turquoise. If you have a neutral skin tone, you get the best of both worlds with white metals and yellow metals matching well, lucky you! Remember that this information is a guideline only, feel free to break the rules because your personality and preferences are the most important part of picking the jewellery. This is just a little help if you are confused about what to buy. When you find that perfect item you will ‘shine bright like a diamond’. WHAT COLOUR JEWELLERY MATCHES YOU THE BEST?
