Your East Midlands Wedding - Jun/Jul 2019 (Issue 32)

56 FLORAL DÉCOR Hanging garlands provide a stunning backdrop for your nuptials and the aisle can be edged with foliage such as palm leaves. Pedestal arrangements can be placed either side of the registry table then moved to stand near the top table or even either side of the dancefloor later in the day. Foliage flower rings around a storm lamp make beautiful centrepieces as do tall arrangements with large tropical leaves, calla lilies and contorted hazel. Denise Harvey, Funky Florists Aerial décor is becoming more sophisticated. Huge moss ropes can be strung across the roof space in a marquee or barn from which individual stems can be hung. Combine these designs with illumination – hanging glass globes filled with moss that tumbles out of the aperture combined with warm white LED lights are simply stunning. As for containers for your centrepieces, try hatboxes, driftwood or old drawers – the list is endless. Helena Brown, By Arrangement Florist Decorated candelabra can enhance a top table and look fine at opposite ends, with the taller freestanding ones situated on the floor. Designs can be enhanced with artificial candles glowing in each of the holders. For rustic-themed nuptials, wooden crates decorated with roses, eucalyptus, hard and soft ruscus or wild flowers are perfect. Sarah Greenway, Flowers by Sarah Louise For a real wow factor and to bring the outside in, opt for one or two large floral installations or suspended blooms, rather than lots of smaller designs. Ideal areas for these can be a fireplace, staircase, aisle or the altar/ceremony table. The moon gate, a circular floral arch, is increasing in popularity and makes for a stunning statement piece. Jacqui Scothern, Akito Floral Design Combine floral arrangements with birdcages and martini vases to create stunning centrepieces. Fairylights attached to rose trees can brighten up darker areas. Garlands draped over staircases or ledges are another great way to incorporate flowers throughout the venue and if you’re looking for a creative backdrop for your photos, a flower wall’s ideal. Samantha Chubb, Melolivia Flowers Couples are moving away from the traditional birdcages or martini glasses filled with blooms and choosing something that shows off their hobbies or interests. We’ve had table arrangements featuring dinosaurs, gin bottles, lemons and even incorporate family photos. Archways at the end of the aisle have that wow factor and chair flowers draw the eye up the aisle. Laura Peltell, Flowers by Suzanne
