Your East Midlands Wedding - Jun/Jul 2019 (Issue 32)

My dress was simple but elegant so it didn’t need much accessorising. I wore a birdcage veil and earrings that my maid-of-honour had bought for me at her wedding. I wanted a vintage feel to my look and this was brought to life with my hair and make-up. Joe wore a suit from Marks and Spencer and so that he didn’t have to decide between his friends, he didn’t have any groomsmen. Our bridesmaids wore navy blue lace tea-length swing dresses and we bought some ribbon in the shades of our colour scheme to make sashes out of to add the finishing touch. We both really like Gothic architecture and Newstead Abbey’s such an impressive venue. It was nice to get married somewhere so historic. Joe’s parents created our flowers, which was really special. They grow British flowers so we were able to have seasonal bouquets with spring colours that suited our theme. 50
