REAL WEDDINGS 33  BLOOMING FABULOUS Emma’s bouquet was created using a variety of cream and pale blue flowers. “I love the look of foliage but I’m not clued up on flowers so our fantastic florist guided me through. I trusted her and she did a fabulous job.” Similar blooms were used in the buttonholes, pew ends, and large arrangements in the church. “A good friend of ours dressed the windows and pillars in the church and my mum fetched some lilies to display at the alter,” says Emma. The displays were then moved to the marquee. “Our tables were dressed with a range of high and low arrangements and the three poles in the marquee with foliage and flowers, which looked fabulous!” For the centrepieces clear vases of flowers were surrounded by a mixture of rose gold and crystal candle holders. SETTING THE SCENE Napkins were tied with simple cream ribbon that also held the name place settings and crystals were scattered on the tables to add a touch of sparkle. “We picked a picture from each year that we’d been together and used that year as our table name alongside the photo. My friend designed and printed our table cards, menus and a few signs for the day and we placed them in rose gold picture holders,” says Emma. The table plan was created using a gold hula-hoop, ribbon and cards and large wooden signs were placed around the venue to direct guests. Hay bales were used as seating and an old picture frame was placed outside the marquee to create a photo station alongside props, blankets and flips flops. The traditional fruit cake was finished with layered icing, decorated with fresh flowers and stood on a tree slice to finish the rustic look. OVER THE MOON Emma and Tom both love music so this was an important part of the day for them. “A string quartet played during the service, drinks and canapés and a band did a great job of entertaining us throughout the evening,” says Emma. “We also hired a silent disco and brought it into the party at midnight. This meant that the dancing could continue but with less noise until the early hours – it’s been a talking point for months after the wedding,” she says. The day was captured by Lizzie from Shoot it Momma Photography. “She was fantastic on the day and really made us feel at ease. We’re over the moon with our beautiful photos.” Emma’s top tip: Remember what you’re celebrating and don’t get caught up in the smallest things. You’re marrying the person you love – everything else is an extra.
