REAL WEDDINGS 33  A s soon as Lindsey and Chris got talking, they knew it was meant to be. “We met in a bar in Loughborough and I was instantly attracted Chris’ sense of humour and how relaxed he made me feel,” says Lindsey. They quickly bonded over a shared interest in music and were soon planning their first date. “We went to a Bright Eyes gig in Birmingham and we were fairly inseparable after that!” A few years later Lindsey received the best present. “Chris took me away to Nunsmere Hall in Cheshire for my 30 th birthday and popped the question on my birthday morning. It was such a wonderful surprise and in a beautiful setting,” she says. A MOMENT IN TIME A year later the big day arrived. “We both felt surprisingly calm. We’d spent so long thinking about the day that we were very ready for it. I had one nervous moment when putting my dress on but I couldn’t wait see Chris and to share our day with our friends and family,” Lindsey recalls. When it came to finding a venue Calke Abbey blew them away. “We loved that the riding school was such a blank canvas and that the space was so flexible,” says Lindsey. “Viewing it with just the drapes in place helped us to see that we could have everything we wanted all in the same space without being restricted.” The ceremony is what stood out for Lindsey. “I felt like time stood still while we were saying our vows, it was a very strange feeling. I knew everyone was there but it felt like it was just us!” MOVIE STAR STYLE Lindsey wore a Maggie Sottero gown called Patience. “After quite a long time together the name of my dress was fitting!” she says. “I loved the way it seemed to float with its light fabric. It was comfortable but made me feel like a movie star.” She accessorised with a pair of beautiful Rachel Simpson shoes, earrings from Liberty in Love and a sparkly cuff. Their bridesmaids wore full-length dresses with sequin tops. “I loved them so much. We added ribbons at the waist to make them slightly different,” says Lindsey. Chris wore a blue suit styled with floral tie and pocket square and his best man wore the same suit with plain pastel blue accessories. SURPRISE WEDDING WHEELS A 1937 Packard was Lindsey’s ride to the ceremony. “Travelling down the driveway to the venue with my mum and dad was such a special moment,” she recalls.
