New wellbeing concept comes to Suffolk After 25 years working in some of the world’s most prestigious spas, a Suffolk spa director has launched a wellbeing concept of her own. Alexandra Hurt, who spent more than a decade as spa director at Weavers’ House Spa at The Swan at Lavenham Hotel & Spa, officially opened Alex Feels in Kersey in July. Her career began aboard five-star cruise ships before taking her to Dubai, where she spent a decade working in the luxury wellness industry as director of group operations for SensAsia Urban Spas, overseeing the opening and operation of several Dubai locations. Now, Alexandra has combined her extensive spa experience with her passion for acupuncture to create a private, one-to-one studio designed around slowing down and taking time for yourself. Auricular acupuncture is at the heart of the experience, but sessions are deliberately much more than a conventional treatment. A first appointment begins with a complimentary discovery call, followed by a two-and-a-halfhour visit incorporating breathwork, Qigong and acupuncture, alongside restorative touches such as aromatherapy, a warm foot cleanse and head and scalp massage. Clients are welcomed with a ginger shot and can choose an essential oil for their treatment before having time to relax afterwards with fresh ginger tea and a macaroon. “It’s deliberately unrushed,” says Alexandra. “I wanted to create somewhere people could have uninterrupted time to be looked after, listened to and allowed to exhale.” The private studio overlooking the Suffolk countryside, boasts a terrace for guests to enjoy the peaceful setting. Initial appointments cost £140, including the complimentary discovery call, with follow-up sessions priced at £120.
