Writing this issue’s editor’s letter on one of the hottest days of the year, means all I can think about is the heat! Although, I’m not moaning like a typical Brit saying it’s too hot, I was cold in Australia so for me, heat-Goldilocks, it’s just right! For summer nuptials, yes you may want the sunshine, but you don’t want the heat as it leads to all sorts of scenarios you may not have thought about: melting cakes, make-up and guests for a start! So, it’s not just wet-weather contingency plans you need to invest time in, but also humid heatwaves need a Plan A, B and C. Does the venue have shade outside? Can you create any if not? Should you provide folding fans? Are there enough refreshments to keep guests hydrated? When it comes to your outfit, can you remove a layer of the underskirt to keep cool, or change your footwear for a heeled sandal instead? Some top tips for your bridal look, carry blotting paper with you for sweaty faces, make sure you secure make-up in place with a setting spray and a handheld fan in your clutch bag could work wonders when you need a minute to cool down! Finally, if you were planning on involving your pet in your wedding day, then chat to your chaperone service about the best ways to keep them comfortable whatever the weather. Ooh is that the time, Pimms o’clock! Until next time... You’ m unshin ISSN 2052-0514 Your East Anglian Wedding is solely owned, published and designed by Ellis Media and Events Ltd. NEWS Nearlywed The go-to spot for news in your local area HINTLESHAM HALL’S NEW CHEF Luigi Vairo, renowned for his innovative approach to seasonal menus at London’s Kensington Roof Top Garden, is set to bring his culinary artistry to Suffolk’s Two Rosette award-winning Carrier’s Restaurant at Hintlesham Hall, as senior sous chef. Under the leadership of Jon Cole, head chef since 2018, Carrier’s has long been synonymous with a dynamic and high-performance dining culture, a legacy first established in the ‘70s by celebrated cookery writer and television chef, Robert Carrier, its former owner. Thirty-six-year-old Luigi, will take a hands-on approach, actively overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen, where carefully crafted seasonal menus feature ingredients from the hotel’s own vegetable and fruit gardens. With Suffolk’s rich farming heritage, the hotel is perfectly positioned to offer both local and visiting gourmands an exceptional culinary experience – whether through its thoughtfully curated à la carte, Sunday, and afternoon tea menus, or its impressive global wine cellar. As well as Carrier’s, Hintlesham Hall has three traditionally decorated dining rooms – The Salon and Parlour and Justice rooms – which are all available for private dining and every occasion, from intimate family gatherings to birthday celebrations, weddings, and special events. Nestled in the beautiful Suffolk countryside Hintlesham Hall, a Grade-I listed manor house hotel dating back to the 1400s, combines a rich heritage with modern luxury. Elegant guestrooms, all commanding wonderful views of the hotel’s picturesque gardens and Suffolk countryside, makes the hotel an ideal choice for a relaxing break to get away from it all. A favourite of celebrities such as Tom Holland, Kylie Jenner and Chrissy Tiegen, the hotel is the first to offer the Miha Bodytech EMS Training in East Anglia. This scientifically supported training method offers a fast, safe, and highly effective way to improve strength, core stability and overall vitality – the equivalent of four hours of traditional resistance training in just 20 minutes. EMS Training uses gentle electrical pulses to stimulate muscles while performing simple, low-impact bodyweight movements. These pulses are delivered via a comfortable fabric vest and belt system, worn over a special undergarment, which activates all major muscle groups, even those deeper core muscles that are harder to reach through conventional workouts. It’s ideal for those short on time, new to fitness, or looking for a joint-friendly way to stay strong and active at any age. Visit www.bedfordlodgehotel.co.uk 7 LOCAL NEWS

Editor Issy Chamberlain visits Riverhills Health Club & Spa for a day of fire and ice relaxation A spa trip has always been, and always will be, the best way to unwind – be it after a period of high stress or just from the general tension of everyday life. Riverhills has created a space for you to completely shut off from the outside world. The breathtaking views are a fantastic first impression of what your day is going to look like; Riverhills makes you feel uplifted as soon as you arrive – generous parking is a small bonus but offers peace of mind! As you walk through the doors, you’re greeted with friendly staff with cheery smiles. Riverhills is not only a spa but also as a sports facility; so, if you’re lucky enough to live near it, it can also be your regular gym. As you’re guided towards the spa section of this impressive building, you’re transported into a zen kingdom. The spa area is headlined by great big doors that open out into the newly refurbished garden, designed by Ade Sellars. Once you check in with the impeccable reception team, guests are given a wellness drink for either immunity or detox – I was at the tail-end of a cold when I visited, so opted for the immunity shot to give that much-needed boost – after this, it’s time to explore! THE FACILITIES Riverhills offers your classic large swimming pool for leisurely floating or for lane swimming – I prefer a lazy float on a spa day, but I appreciate some of our readers might want to take this opportunity to get some cardio in! There’s also a luxurious hot tub, heated to the perfect temperature to soothe aching muscles and powerful jets to massage out any lasting tension. What’s more, the Vitality Pool – much like the hot tub – is a warm-water facility with jets in and out of the water! These are designed to offer high intensity massaging for trouble areas like your shoulders or lower back. Now, these are quite intense, so I’d approach cautiously on your first go! This is all within the first room and what a fantastic start – but as you move through to the next section, you are also met with an opportunity to head outside for sunbathing. It was a glorious day when I visited and there were people stretched out on this courtyard like lions dosing in the sun. They do say there’s no better therapy than sunshine, so the addition of this space felt like a natural fit. Once you pass the sun-soaking guests, you find the ultimate relaxation cove. This area of the spa holds the steam room, salt sauna, volcano sauna, foot baths (complete with jets), heated tiled beds, monsoon shower, and the highly anticipated snow shower. The salt sauna and steam room are classics in any spa and were the perfect examples of wet and dry heat. The volcano sauna is a variation of wet heat but leans more on the heat side, as opposed to the clearing wet heat the steam room delivers. Once you’ve tried out all of these, go for a submersion in the monsoon shower – the multiple heads hit you with a refreshing shower and is the perfect reset following the exfoliating heat of the sauna. Now it’s time to step into winter! The available snow shower is constantly running and kisses you with chunky snowflakes. The idea of this facility is to simulate the conditions Scandinavians experience, having to step out into snowy conditions after a session in the sauna. The Scandinavians are stronger than I will ever be because I lasted mere seconds under this snowstorm. But if this sounds like something you’d take on, then give it a go – it’s colder than you think it is! To warm up, I consoled myself on the heated tiled beds. These beautiful gems are shaped to perfectly hug the natural curves of your body, and they are heated to the ideal temperature. After this, you can finish with foot baths; lined with jets to massage your feet while you sit on heated chairs! THE TREATMENT Tiana who delivered the Driftaway Massage has magic hands and I wasn’t afraid to tell her that on the day. Before the massage, you’re asked what sort of pressure you would like, and being the delicate flower I am, I asked for soft. Typically, masseuses will ignore this and apply slightly more pressure to make sure the knots get out – but not my girl Tiana. She listened to what I needed, perfectly executed this, and delivered the best massage I’ve ever had. The room was filled with reviving aromatherapy and the products used not only allowed a silky rub but left my skin feeling like a million dollars. The massage started with dry brushing the length of my body – this was my first time experiencing dry brushing and I’m a convert. This was a fantastic sensation and was the ideal way to kick-off the treatment. This was then followed by a multitude of lotions and potions that transported me to a serene island with no stresses or concerns of the outside world. Couples especially, need to head for the mud room right at the end. You are given a selection of muds/clays to rub yourself down in and these work their magic while the room fills with revitalising steam. LOVE AT FIRST SWIPE Sam and Callam’s wedding, at The Bell Inn, was highlighted with pops of blue and gold accents Images courtesy of Francelli Photography REAL WEDDINGS 23

Sam and Callam first met online and their first date was one to Starbucks. This was followed by a walk around a Northamptonshire Christmas market, where Callam inadvertently ended up meeting nearly all of Sam’s family and friends – talk about being thrown in the deep end! But their connection survived the ultimate intro, and their relationship has gone from strength to strength. When it came to popping the question, it was all about acting on the moment as it was presented. Sam had ordered Callam’s ring to their home, and understandably, expected the packaging to be small and discreet. When two large Vera Wang boxes arrived with Sam’s name on it, and nowhere in the house to hide them, he decided that then and there would be the moment they get engaged. Sam got on one knee, on the landing in front of their home office, with Callam in his dressing gown (with his work headset on), and asked Callam to spend forever with him. The stunning venue that would act as the backdrop to this special day was The Bell Inn, located in the centre of Stilton. This venue was a middle ground for both Sam and Callam’s families and had everything this gorgeous couple were looking for. Here, Callam tells us more, “the non-conference feel of the ceremony/reception room was a great attraction to us – after seeing many venues which felt more like business rooms, the intimacy of the deceptively large space was cosy and welcoming. With the addition of a beautiful courtyard and stunning food, it was definitely the perfect venue for our 50 guests.” The date was set for 25th May 2025, here we find out more... SETTING THE SCENE Colourful, fabulous and elegant was the driving force behind Sam and Callam’s wedding and covered everything from the invites to the table covers. Their colour scheme featured a range of blues and was accented by black and gold. Callam adds, “we wanted it to have less of a ‘bridal’ feel, and a more chic, black tie, exclusive vibe! We had flashes of colour and extravagance, such as the pride rainbow fans, and surprise umbrellas courtesy of 24

Sam’s mum!” Callam and Sam leaned on the microwedding trend, as well as fashioning some of the décor elements themselves – or with the help from family. They created the invites and stationery, as well as the candle lanterns, signage and more. Callam’s mum made the faux candle displays (the table centrepieces), which were created with blue hot glue for a ’dripping wax’ effect. Sam’s mum has a fruitful wildflower patch in her garden, so immediately offered her services as florist for the day. When it came to food, The Bell Inn didn’t do anything in half measures! The canapés included baconwrapped dates, honey mustard sausages, and ratatouille. Callam claims that ’to this day people are still talking about the bacon dates’. “We only had one each as we were mid-photo, but we did get through many of the sausages!” shares Callam. The wedding breakfast served up a hot pork buffet which included sausages, pulled pork shoulder, with all the sides you could want! LOOKING THE PART Dressing for the day took an unexpected turn for this couple, who had originally planned on matching their outfits. However, their recent efforts of swimming twice a week meant that Callam went down a whole suit size! In a shopping panic they found the Oliver Tweed three-piece classic suit in navy. The change was meant to be, because the new suit fit Callam like a glove and he looked spectacular on the day. Sam wore a House of Cavani ’Kaiser’ suit, which looked equally as stunning as Callam’s attire. Both grooms had a wardrobe change for the evening; Callam switched into a House of Cavani blazer with a Twisted Tailor shirt, and Sam changed into a Skopes cocktail jacket with a Twisted Tailor shirt. Sam and Callam skipped on groomsmen and went straight for ’best people’ who wore a collection of Monsoon, Dorothy Perkins, Alie Street and Roman wedding outfits. TIME TO CELEBRATE When it came to celebrating on the big day, Sam and Callam simply wanted to be around their guests as much as possible. But for the moments they had to be off doing newlywed things, they had a caricature artist (hired by Callam’s mum) to keep the guests entertained. Callam adds, “she managed to capture all of our guests in the bat of an eye; her warm energy and friendliness shined through, as well as her raw talent!” Sam and Callam also created a game for guests to complete, this included photo challenges and mildly mischievous things to do throughout the day. MEMORABLE MOMENTS For Sam and Callam, the whole day was a memorable moment, every second cherished for the rest of their lives. They also mention how well their photographer, and now friend for life, did on the day to capture the love in the room. As a parting words of wisdom, this lovely couple suggest keeping your cool on the day, “things won’t necessarily go to plan, and you shouldn’t get caught on the little details. No matter what happens, enjoy the day and try to relish in every little special moment”. Lillie and Hayden’s wedding day was a stylish affair with a neutral colour palette Images courtesy of Holly Hambling Photography It must be love, love, love After meeting at work, Hayden proposed to Lillie in Alicante on a last-minute holiday, Lillie recalls, “He made me walk to the furthest end of the beach so no one was around, yet two old ladies blew his cover by screaming!” The big date was set, 29th May 2025, with Bressingham Hall & High Barn setting the scene. Here, Lillie tells us more about their day… 26

The bridesmaids wore A-line, V-neck, floor-length, chiffon bridesmaid dresses in a ‘desert rose’ hue. My gown was called Capri, by Richard Designs, I cried when I tried it on, I just felt at ease and very me. I had always wanted to get married at Bressingham Hall & High Barn due to the grounds and the hall. We really wanted the wedding to all be in one place and both loved it, we didn’t look at any another venue. Hayden and the groomsmen wore a Fellini, tailored-fit, black, three-piece tuxedo. The bridal bouquet was muted pastel colours, as was Hayden’s button hole, while the bridesmaids carried bouquets of gypsophila. 27 REAL WEDDINGS

Gypsophila decorated the aisle seats. The tables had the same flowers as my bouquet in milk bottles. Our chosen theme was soft muted colours, we wanted to create a very chilled vibe. We had minimal decorations, simple but effective. I made the stationery which was white with black writing with the same font carried throughout. 29 REAL WEDDINGS

Simply romance The overall feel of this styled shoot was timeless, romantic, and classically luxurious Images courtesy of Ian Whitwell - Discovery Photo & Video Natalie Slack, venue owner and director of Crown Hall Farm, organised this photo shoot to capture the essence of a romantic, fairytale wedding set within a beautifully serene outdoor venue. From the peaceful water backdrop and flourishing green surroundings, to the sophisticated draping and exquisite white floral arrangements, every element was curated to showcase how effortlessly elegance can meet nature. “Our aim was to present the venue as a dreamy blank canvas where modern romance could unfold – whether through the intimate moments of the couple or the opulent yet tasteful décor,” shares Natalie. “The ceremony setup embraced nature’s tranquility with an open-air feel, while the reception design highlighted floral grandeur and soft textures that evoke warmth and refinement. “We envisioned a space where couples could see their dream day brought to life: refined, romantic, and unforgettable. Every supplier collaborated to bring harmony to the visual story; from the make-up artistry to the florals, photography, and styling, ensuring a cohesive and aspirational look that would inspire future weddings at this venue.” - enjoy! 33 LOCAL INSPIRATION

MUSIC & ENTERTAINMENT 37 Time to get the party started! Check out our top tips for securing entertainment Pump up the jam The final step to make your wedding feel like one big party is the entertainment. Booking the right act could make or break the vibe you’ve been building. So, let’s go through the different types of entertainment you can get, our tips for making it blend with your day, and not forgetting the all-important first dance recommendations. unsplash.com/zanepersaud josephtwo.smugmug.com MUSIC This is self-explanatory and includes all of the classics like singers, bands, pianist, DJ, and saxophonist. Although, thanks to the rise of the Bridgerton fanbase, there has been a notable increase in string quartet and harpist bookings! All of these styles of entertainment can work through any portion of the day and can be moulded to fit most themes. A lot of the more classical musicians can lend themselves to contemporary songs (once again, the Bridgerton effect). PERFORMERS Here is where you can inject a lot of your personality! Wedding performers can be anything from magicians, caricature artists, live drawing artist, singing waiters, or even comedians. This is completely down to you and what inspires you at the time. You can either take it seriously or have a bit of fun, whatever suits the vibe of your wedding. CRÉCHE/SOFT PLAY A lot of couples choose to have children in attendance on their big day, and whilst it is a beautiful thing to share the love with them, they do have extra entertainment needs. Whilst the adults are enjoying the cocktails or having a chat, the children may end up bored and restless. To avoid any tantrums, it would be worth booking créche services or soft play hire to keep the little ones happy. Not only would it be less stress for the parents, but it means you won't have to worry about any screaming during the speeches or your first dance. unsplash.com/joshuaearle PETTING ZOO Now, this one can vary depending on venues and their rules. Some venues come with furry friends already in residence, if so then you’re on to a winner! Other venues are pretty relaxed with the addition of petting zoos to wedding days, however, some may just flat-out refuse. We can understand a no, especially if it’s coming from a venue that relies on its manicured gardens. So, always check with your venue first before booking your big-day supplier. OUTDOOR GAMES We will touch on more outdoor activities in our ‘Hired Props’ section, but here we outline other activities you can include. If you want your wedding to feel like a massive party, then why not turn it into a fair ground? Your wedding could be the festival of the season with fun games, cotton candy, and small rides. It perhaps requires slightly more planning, to ensure the venue can handle the extra machinery, and ensuring it can all be set up on time – but it’s worth the effort. First and foremost, you’ll need to check with the venue before you book anything! If you can pull it off, then the wedding album will look epic, and your guests will dream about it for months to come. If you want a fun element but don’t want to organise a funfair, why not include crazy golf? Again, you will need to check with the venue that this is a possibility, but this should be easier to implement. You could even run a competition where the person with the best score gets a free drink or prize from the newlyweds.

38 @ rawe.reality stillsbyliz.myportfolio.com SOUNDTRACK TO YOUR LOVE We’ve all seen the passing trends of wedding playlists and first dance songs – Ed Sheeran took the crown for years – but in case you’re wondering what the current trends are (according to Spotify), here’s a list of some of the current wedding top hits: Ordinary by Alex Warren (wedding version) A Thousand Years by Christina Perri All my Love by Coldplay It Had to be You by Ray Charles Die with a Smile by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars At Last by Etta James Lover By Taylor Swift HIRED PROPS We’re talking bouncy castles, crazy golf, a coconut shy, egg and spoon races, croquet, giant chess or jenga – the types of garden games you would play as a kid. Everyone is all about incorporating nostalgia to their lives these days, so entertainment like this would not only go down a storm but provide great pictures for the album! DIY STATIONS DIY stands at weddings have seen a popularity spike, as more couples are trying to get their guests involved in the big day. If you’re looking to add DIY bars, then there are plenty of ideas to play around with. Build-your-own cocktail stations have been incredibly popular over the previous years, as they enable guests to jazz up their drinks; add a drink topper designed with your wedding logo, edible glitter/flowers, fun colours and lots of other things too. It’s a great talking point and an opportunity to test their creativity! On this creative note, couples have also offered chances for guests to craft things on the wedding day, such as wreath making, tattoo bars and pottery painting! All of which can be well-catered to suit your guests and their personal flair. To bring the festival vibe to your special day, consider glitter bars! They’re super fun and could be personalised to your wedding colour scheme – I’m sure this could turn quite comical when the drinks have been flowing. GAME TABLES There has been a notable rise in people falling back in love with board games, card games, and everything in-between! I’m a big fan of card games and will always bring one or two with me when I travel or see friends. This can be easily incorporated into your wedding day through a games table; and could include casino-style game tables, Mr and Mrs battles, a pub quiz, and any other boardgames that speak to you. This style of wedding entertainment is another great chance for you to add personal flair and show off ways you and your partner like to have fun.
