Owner and designer Tiffany Crosson-Smith says, “Having a bespoke wedding dress allows you to create exactly what you want.” Read on for her guide to getting it right... If you can’t decide whether going bespoke is for you, ask yourself: ❤ Do I want something unique that no one else will have? ❤ Have I already tried on wedding dresses but still not found the one ? ❤ Is it a struggle to find well-fitting clothes in store? ❤ Do I have a specific design in mind? ❤ Is my style alternative to the norm? Score a ‘yes’ to any of these questions and having your wedding dress made may be the perfect solution. “One of the biggest struggles when shopping for your gown can be falling in love with a variety of features from different dresses; the top of one, the sleeves of another and the skirt from a whole different style. Bringing these things together with the help of a designer allows you to create the dress of your dreams,” explains Tiffany. FAQS What if I don’t know what I want? Tiffany says: Feel free to ask as many questions as you like! We offer a free consultation to provide expert help and advice on styles to suit your body shape, how to combine ideas you already have or what type of dress would suit your wedding theme, in order create a design to fit all your needs. How long does it take? A handmade dress can take anywhere from three to 12 months to create depending on your design. Going bespoke requires extra commitment as you need to attend multiple fittings. However, it allows you to see your dress taking shape and make any changes during the design process. It also gives you the opportunity to get to know your dressmaker and ask their professional opinions. By working closely together you’ll be able to realise your vision and have a one-of-a-kind gown made to fit you perfectly. What are the costs involved? It depends on each individual creation. Help and advice is available during the consultation stage on how the design and fabrics can be altered to suit your needs and budget. Don’t forget a bespoke gown is made to fit so there are no additional alteration costs either!
