I’m a great fan of ‘hygge’, a Danish ethos that, loosely translated, is all about simplifying things and enjoying the moment, bringing a mix of cosiness, charm and comfort into our lives. Not just for the festive season, but a great idea for everyday life and never more relevant than in the current challenging times. With many couples having to postpone their weddings, some couples are opting to tie the knot regardless with just immediate family and friends, followed by a full-on party later once restrictions have eased. Intimate weddings have always been an option and can be just as special as large-scale affairs, particularly in the winter, with romantic candlelight and a wealth of inviting indoor wedding spaces available at venues across the region. Downsizing your wedding plans doesn’t have to mean compromising on the look and feel of your day. What’s more, we’re here to help you navigate the hurdles and plan your day, your way, with useful tips and advice from local experts on page 96. Flowers are a major part of the wedding décor and can transform anything from the smallest wedding to the grandest venue. To celebrate the wealth of creative talent on the doorstep we showcase a gallery of wow-factor big-day blooms starting on page 57. Looking ahead, from page 63 we also shine a light on what’s set to be hot in wedding catering for all the lovely weddings to come! Have a very merry Christmas and happy New Year, see you in 2021!
