REAL WEDDINGS 37  W orking together turned out to be a presciption for love for Aimee and James. They met at the pharmacy where James was training to be a pharmacist and Aimee was a dispenser. They were colleagues for a year and kept in touch as friends afterwards until romance blossomed a couple of years later. When it came to popping the question, James organised a trip to New York for the two of them and planned to pick the time and place while they were there. “I guess he must’ve been either too excited, or nervous, as he asked me on the first night,” recalls Aimee. “We had our first view of the city at the Top of the Rock, then went ice skating at the Wollman Rink in Central Park and on the way back to the hotel, he got down on one knee while we were crossing the Gapstow Bridge.” She said ‘yes’, of course! THE TIME AND PLACE They opted for a rustic wedding theme with a burgundy, blush and ivory colour scheme, including flashes of gold and a nod to James’ Scottish heritage. Glemham Hall ticked all the boxes for their celebration. “We checked it out online and it looked amazing and there’s a lovely little church on the edge of the estate only a five-minute walk away which was perfect for our intimate ceremony,” explains Aimee. They fell in love with the venue as soon as they saw it. “The hall and the gardens were amazing and after meeting the event planner Donna, who was so friendly and accommodating, we knew it was the right place for our dream wedding. Also, after seeing the grand staircase, we were able to picture the fairytale entrance we wanted, in front of all our guests after the ceremony.” LOOKING THE PART After trying on numerous wedding gowns, Aimee knew she wanted a mermaid, off-the-shoulder style and fell for the Morilee designer range instantly. “I loved my dress as it had detachable sleeves and a 3D lace pattern which added a gorgeous effect. To set it off I bought a dazzling pair of Jon Richard earrings from Debenhams and a bracelet to match.” Aimee and James’ rustic wedding featured beautiful blooms and a nod to his Scottish roots Images courtesy of Ayshea Goldberg Photography ROSES ARE RED
