94 Q&A Hair & Beauty Your bridal look sorted GET THE LOOK I’m not very adventurous with my make-up, I only use the bare minimum and have been wearing the same shade of lipstick for years! I want to feel different and glamorous on my wedding day though. What would you suggest, so I still look like me? Brooke says: This year’s brides are loving the Meghan Markle effect. Think luminous natural skin, fluffy brows and a wash of colour over the eyes, cheeks and lips. The style is perfectly understated and it’s easy to see why it’s bang on trend. I mean, who doesn’t want to look like the best version of themselves on their wedding day, right? Let’s enhance natural features like freckles, not cover them! Here are a few of my go-to products to get the look: ❤ For a beautiful glow and to help keep your make-up in place all day, apply Becca Backlight Primer all over your face. ❤ Follow with a lightweight foundation, such as Charlotte Tilbury’s Light Wonder so we can still see those freckles. ❤ Use Tarte Shape Tape Concealer on any problem areas. I usually opt for just a shade lighter than the natural skin tone to brighten the under-eye area. ❤ Highlight cheekbones with Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Beauty Light Wand for an effortless non-glittery glow. ❤ For a wash of colour, I love NARS The Multiple, a versatile make- up stick that can be used on eyes, lips and cheeks. I’d recommend the shimmering rose peach shade to enhance that youthful glow and add a pretty pop of subtle colour. ❤ Get those fluffy brows by using NYX Brow Mascara, filling in any gaps with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade in your chosen shade. ❤ Finish off with a lick of mascara; waterproof is always best for the big day! Brooke Thompson | Hair and make-up artist | bohobeautybox.co.uk HAIR CARE I never really bother much about my hair and usually wear it either down or scraped back in a ponytail, so I’ve no idea how to prep for my wedding or what styles are hot for summer brides. Can you help? Lisa says: If you’re not used to having your hair styled regularly, the current trend for more relaxed bridal hair is ideal. The chilled hippy look is big right now with loose curls or waves, half pinned back or with a loose plait. Whatever you choose, it’s important to get your locks in tip top condition for the big day, so start a routine as soon as possible. ❤ Have a regular trim every six to eight weeks. ❤ Use a good conditioning treatment once a week, such as TIGI Oatmeal & Honey or TIGI Urban Antidotes. ❤ Make sure you use the right shampoo for your roots and a conditioner for the ends. If your hair is coloured regularly, a colour-protect shampoo will help enhance the shade and make it last longer. ❤ Arrange a hair trial to coincide with your dress fitting so you can see the whole effect and avoid any last-minute worries. ❤ Never be scared to try out a few different looks and take some photos with you of styles you like; they’ll be a great help for your hairdresser.
