MAGIC Monochrome Brooke and Alfie’s November wedding took place at Plymouth’s The Treasury Cafe, Bar and Restaurant Images courtesy of Picture Matilda Photography Brooke and Alfie met through a mutual friend when they were both 18. “Alfie was finishing college, and I was studying for my A Levels,” Brooke tells us. “Alfie pursued me for about six months before we started dating!” The couple became engaged during a romantic proposal at Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa in Newquay. “The proposal was perfect for us because the hotel is one of our favourites, and I got to pick my dream ring,” Brooke tells us. The couple wanted a small, intimate ceremony, so they married at their local register office and enjoyed a reception with nine members of their immediate family at The Treasury Cafe, Bar and Restaurant in Plymouth. “We have many happy memories from nights out and hosting our engagement party there, so we would never have chosen anywhere else to celebrate our day,” Brooke says. The dress code for guests was black tie, and the couple’s theme was minimalist, featuring chic black accents. “I was inspired by Sophie Habboo and Jamie Laing’s London ceremony, which is the vibe we went for.” The team at The Treasury served a relaxed family-style buffet after the couple’s ceremony, including chicken tenders and chilli cheese bites. “We didn’t want a three-course dinner, so I left the menu selections up to my dad, who chose some of our favourite dishes,” Brooke says. “We had two bottles of Whispering Angel rosé wine and a bottle of Laurent-Perrier champagne on our table to toast; however, most of our guests do not drink, so there was plenty of tea and Diet Cokes too,” Brooke tells us. “We all enjoyed a slice of our lemon wedding cake, which is our favourite flavour. This was the first-ever wedding cake that our supplier had made, which made it even more special.” Brooke gave a short speech before the toast, and Alfie’s father read a message from Alfie’s aunt and uncle, who live in New Zealand and couldn’t make it to the ceremony. “I can be quite a stoic person, so having the opportunity to show a more vulnerable side to our closest family members was special, as it allowed them to see a different side to our relationship that we don’t share very often,” Brooke says. “After dinner, we had some friends and extended family members join us to celebrate, which continued the festivities late into the evening.” Brooke wore a stylish Karen Millen two-piece suit. “As soon as I saw the structured shoulders on the blazer, I knew it was the outfit for me,” she tells us. “The style is reflective of who I am. My black glittery Jimmy Choo shoes were the showstopper – I chose the tallest pair that I could walk in!” Brooke teamed her outfit with a pair of Chanel earrings and a Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch. “My rings worn on my right hand are family heirlooms, my diamond necklace was a gift from my parents, and I also carried the Saint Laurent Mini Lou Camera Bag and wore a pair of Saint Laurent heart sunglasses,” she tells us. “Most of my accessories are items I already have in my collection and were not purchased specifically for the day.” Alfie wore a black velour and satin dinner jacket, a pair of black tailored trousers with a satin stripe, a satin bow tie, gold cufflinks, patent leather slip-on loafers and a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses for a few of the photographs.
