Your Devon and Cornwall Wedding - May/June 2025 (Issue 55)

Jo and Jonny met at primary school, where they appeared in their first show together. “Jonny forgot all about me after that until I walked into his adult life at 33 years old!” Jo tells us. “He proposed at Lincombe Hall, a hotel and spa in Torquay, just before Christmas 2023, after three years together. I did not enjoy the wait – but Jonny was worth it!” SETTING THE SCENE Jo is an avid member of various amateur dramatic societies across Torbay including TOADS Stage Musical Company, TOPS Musical Productions and Paignton Pantomime Productions and she’s a singer and vocal coach. “I first performed at the Palace Theatre Paignton when I was pregnant with my first child, Charlie-Rose, 21 years ago so it was meant to be when we found out we could host our dream day there,” Jo tells us. “The staff supported me in being creative, planning an entire production for the wedding ceremony, with a starlit cloth backdrop, mirror balls, spotlights, confetti cannons set to our favourite music and guest performers.” Jo wrote the script for their ceremony and their friend David, a local doctor, was their celebrant. “We had groomsmen walking down the aisle flinging confetti whilst wearing heart-shaped sunglasses and holding lightsabers,” “Jonny felt nervous and excited on the day. I was excited – like the feeling I get before I appear in a show for the first time. Being backstage at the Palace Theatre Paignton to get ready felt like coming home.” 25 REAL WEDDINGS
