MILLBROOK-BASED HELEN ROUND UNVEILS NEW RAME HEAD COLLECTION Helen Round is excited to introduce The Rame Head Collection. Fine line drawings of this prominent Cornish headline have been individually screen printed on to navy and natural linen to create a stunning range of kitchen, bathroom and interior items. Rame Head is featured in the trailer for The Salt Path film, that launched in April 2025, leading to an increased interest in the Cornish coast path and the natural environment featured in the film. Coordinate or match the stunning travel accessories in the collection that feature sturdy brass zips, splash-proof linings and plenty of room for products. These gorgeous bags are a must-have for keeping travel essentials effortlessly organised and accessible. Linen tea towels and bread bags make great gifts and act as a reminder of a wonderful time spent by the coast. All products are available in dark navy with a white print or natural with a dark navy print and pieces are machine washable at 30°C. The collection is designed and sewn in the Helen Round studios on the Rame Peninsula, Cornwall. It celebrates this stunning headland, with its ancient chapel - often the last piece of land sailors see as they leave England and the first they see when returning home. Rame Head is a historic local landmark. A steep hill with many steps leads up to the chapel at the summit, providing both mental and physical benefits to those that visit. These feelings are reflected in the new film The Salt Path, which is likely to increase interest in this beautiful part of Cornwall and the stunning Rame Head Collection. The range includes bone china mugs, organic cotton t-shirts, fragranced candles and greeting cards. Helen Round says: “All of my drawings, my collections, are inspired by the landscape that surrounds our studio. Rame Head is a magical place, jutting out into the sea, surrounded by nature. A place for contemplation, relaxation and joy!” www.helenround.com CELTIC & CO. DEBUTS ARTIST COLLABORATION British fashion brand Celtic & Co. has collaborated with contemporary painter Laura Menzies to produce an exclusive three-piece summer collection. Inspired by Menzies’ painting, Colour in the Sky, Celtic & Co. has used responsibly sourced euroflax linen and cotton fabrics to create a tunic, dress, and lightweight scarf printed with the abstract artwork. After a visit to one of Menzies’ shows, Celtic & Co.’s design team were drawn to Menzies’ use of layering natural light and texture. Senior product developer, Morgan Webber-Newman, said: “When looking for an artist to collaborate with on this collection, we felt Laura’s work had an affinity for our product vision, and with shared influence of the Cornish landscape – it was a great fit.” Speaking about the collaboration, Menzies said: “I did think about doing fashion or a design degree at university, so when I was approached by Celtic & Co. I was unbelievably excited. I’ve never done anything like this before, but I have always thought about how my paintings might look on fabric.” She adds, “The piece that was selected for the print, Colour in the Sky, is a painting that I did on my return from India just over a year ago. I spent about seven weeks there to get some new inspiration for my work. I’d previously travelled there several years ago and it touched me very deeply, emotionally and spiritually – and I wanted to go back as an artist to soak it all in. Colour in the Sky is about the feeling of colour, shape and texture that represents the sense of freedom I felt when I was there. It can be an assault on the senses, and I think my work became a bit bolder when I came home.” Menzies has exhibited in both the UK and internationally, notably showing at Tate Modern and Tate St Ives, and is currently represented in Morgan’s Gallery in Falmouth, and Milieu Studios in St Ives. www.celticandco.com EDITOR LOVES David Alpert is named British Underwater Photographer of the Year 2025 with ‘The Curious Seal’ photo from Lundy Island in North Devon, a unique and remote spot for honeymooners to explore. The talented award-winning underwater and wildlife photographer and co-founder and managing director of the International Institute for Active Ageing (iiaa) has won the highly prestigious title in the global photography contest, which attracted 6750 underwater pictures. Being regularly based in Devon, David’s image ‘The Curious Seal’ was taken from Lundy Island and challenges the misconceptions that British waters are murky and lifeless. It was selected from thousands of entries with the international winners announced in an awards ceremony in central London. David says, “My photo is from Lundy Island, a marine protected area since 1973. British seals are delightfully curious, and more interactive than any other species I have dived with around the world. Briefly, I became one of the privileged few, crossing the bridge into the world of a sentient wild animal. North Devon is easily one of the most beautiful coastlines in Britain. High jagged cliffs pounded by an unforgiving sea. With the second-highest tide change in the world, the outgoing current whips up against waves and wind rolling in from the North Atlantic. Diving windows are limited, so I based myself in the area for two months last year, exploring different locations.” To find out more about David’s work, visit www.instagram.com/davidalpertphotography and to find out more about Lundy Island as a day trip and honeymoon destination, visit www.landmarktrust.org.uk/lundyisland 9 LOCAL NEWS
