Your Devon and Cornwall Wedding - March/April 2024 (Issue 48)

Series 3 from their close friends and the bridesmaids arrived in a slightly more modern Land Rover that could also provide backup should the Series 3 not make it!” Jojo and Kane hosted their reception at The Old Apple Store at Cadhay House. “It was so lovely seeing everybody enjoying themselves, and quite surreal watching people from different parts of our lives all in one place and mixing at our reception,” Jojo says. “We had a table for two in the corner of the reception for us so that we got to spend some time together. The rest of the table plan we organised based on who we thought would be well-matched in groups of six. We chose simple yet elegant table and place names decorated with hand-drawn eucalyptus leaves and other greenery. We also kept our favours simple and had Swizzels Love Hearts at each place setting which we knew our guests would enjoy.” Jojo and Kane had rustic-inspired décor including tables topped with simple yet elegant centrepieces. “We had jars decorated with hessian details filled with candles or LED string lights and small plants,” Jojo says. “We didn’t have flowers at the church or the venue, only silk bouquets and buttonholes purchased from Etsy. Not only did they look amazing, but they will last forever and it removed an additional stress from the day as they arrived a couple of months before the wedding.” The couple opted for a cheese tower from Godminster instead of a traditional wedding cake which went down a treat with their guests. “Our caterers served up nibbles for everyone as they arrived at Cadhay from the church ceremony and for dinner, the options we selected were pork tenderloin and a filo pastry vegetable wellington,” Jojo says. “For pudding, we chose a trio of mini desserts which was great because it meant everyone had something they loved on their plate.” Kane’s speech after the wedding breakfast was incredible and guests still talk about it now. “All of our suppliers were fantastic and each was happy to assist in any way they could and help each other,” Jojo says. “We were both excited, not just to get married but to have all of our family and friends gathered together to celebrate.” LOOKING THE PART Jojo wore a beautiful satin dress with a portrait neckline teamed with a cathedral-length veil. “My dress was simple with the most amazing silhouette,” Jojo says. “It was a suggestion of my chief bridesmaid and was the first one that I tried on,” she told us. “Wedding dress shopping ended up being a lot more straightforward than we expected!” REAL WEDDINGS 29
