Your Devon and Cornwall Wedding - January/February 2021 (Issue 29)

45  REAL WEDDINGS E mma and Nathan met at the gym. “We knew of each other and got chatting which led to our first date,” Emma tells us. “I admired his ambition and sense of adventure and Nathan liked the fact that I was independent and also very caring.” The couple became engaged during a climbing trip to Chamonix. “Nathan proposed to me on the summit of Mont Blanc. It was a wonderful surprise!” SETTING THE SCENE The couple chose to get married at Rockbeare Manor in Exeter. “It's a stunning countryside venue and the building is so beautiful. We knew that our family and friends would love it as much as we did,” Emma says. The couple opted for a springtime florals theme with baby blue touches and references to their many adventures together. “Our table names were after mountains that we had climbed and included Mont Blanc, Scafell Pike and Tryfan,” Emma tells us. “On each one, we had a photograph of us during that particular climbing route. We seated our guests at round tables of between eight and 10 people with hand-written cards as their place names and we both sat at our top table with both sets of our parents.” Emma and Nathan's springtime florals theme shone through in their choice of blooms. "Our centrepieces were lanterns with candles surrounded by a wreath of wildflowers on each table," Emma describes, "and our top table featured a stunning statement floral arrangement which was also placed on the ceremony table. We also had wildflower garlands displayed on the fireplace mantelpieces which look so pretty." Their bouquets, buttonholes and other flower arrangements included eucalyptus, eryngium, blue clematis, “The ceremony chairs were draped with white chiffon sashes with flowers added which looked so effective framing the aisle.” – Emma
