Your Devon and Cornwall Wedding - September/October 2020 (Issue 27)

KITLEY HOUSE & COUNTRY ESTATE As we unveiled on page nine, this historic manor house situated on a privately owned estate in 600 acres is now a year-round venue for exclusive-use weddings and events and also holidays - why not consider a minimoon here with loved ones? There are 19 en suite bedrooms in this character property, most with far-reaching views down to the creek, and these include three large suites located on the first floor lovingly named Rodney, Churchill and Winston that overlook the fountain garden. There’s also a room on the ground floor that has been specially adapted for accessibility. Ceremonies take place in a choice of elegant reception rooms for both intimate gatherings and large, grand affairs. There are two spectacular outdoor settings, one called The Island which is a real hidden gem accessed via a bridge, and a charming summer house perched beside the pretty fountain garden. Fresh food is prepared by the chef and his team and couples are invited for a tasting session before their big day. HOLNE PARK HOUSE This exclusive-use manor house is located on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park, tucked away in 90 acres of woodland and grounds home to manicured gardens, lakes and rivers. There’s also easy access to the rest of the estate, the ever-popular River Dart Country Park. The property offers a selection of accommodation options, including an opulent wedding suite for newlyweds, and camping close by for wedding guests in the four-star, AA-approved River Dart Country Park camping and touring park. Ceremonies take place in a choice of interconnecting reception rooms for intimate gatherings or larger, grand affairs and outside there’s the Garden Pavilion situated in a stunning countryside setting revealing magical sunsets. The Ballroom, with its high ceilings and large windows, offers an elegant option for the wedding breakfast and evening reception while the Dawson Room is another choice for a more intimate wedding breakfast. The Inkwell, with its glass lantern roof and marble fireplace, is a great spot to welcome guests. The wedding breakfast can be hosted in a variety of these areas for up to 90 people depending on the table arrangement, and the wide selection of menus on offer use freshly prepared locally sourced produce. For a less traditional set-up or the evening celebration, up to 300 guests can be welcomed. ❤ We love... the grand sweeping staircase that makes a magnificent big-day backdrop.
