Your Devon and Cornwall Wedding - July/August 2020 (Issue 26)

CONGRATULATIONS! Multi-award-winning photographer Martyn Norsworthy located in Kingsbridge, Devon has recently been awarded four Bronze Awards in the Guild of Professional Photographer’s Image of the Month competition. The Guild of Professional Photographers is a highly regarded national photographic body and its members are dedicated to enhancing their skills in the art, craft and profession of photography and are committed to achieving the highest standards of professionalism for the benefit of their customers. Martyn tells us, “I am really happy to get four in one month. I have used the time during lockdown to enhance my skills ready for the future. Three of the images were shot last year at local weddings, and one was taken for a marketing campaign.” Lesley Thirsk, a director of the Guild tells us that she’s “delighted that Martyn has achieved these awards. The Guild has very demanding standards when judging photographic competitions. In fact, the judging is undertaken by a panel of internationally recognised experts from a variety of photographic backgrounds, so it’s an achievement to be, quite rightly, proud of!” To find out more and to book Martyn, call 01548 854 044 or visit www.norsworthyweddings.com THE PIG Hotels open new Harlyn Bay property THE PIG-at Harlyn Bay has opened in Cornwall with COVID-19 measures in place. Ideal for private dining following an intimate ceremony conducted close by, or as the base for a minimoon or honeymoon in the region, it’s the seventh property in the group of small lifestyle restaurants with rooms where the focus is on authenticity and informality of design, food and service. With a commitment to home-grown and local produce, THE PIG properties celebrate the seasons and use only the best, freshest and most authentic foods and ingredients. It’s all about the kitchen gardens that are the beating heart of the operation, and everything is driven by the kitchen gardener who grows and sources the food, and the chef who creates the mouth-watering menus featuring uncomplicated and simple garden food, true to the seasons with the emphasis on fresh, clean flavours. What cannot be grown in the kitchen garden is sourced within a 25-mile radius of each hotel. In keeping with THE PIG’s signature style, each hotel has a garden restaurant and bedrooms featuring a touch of luxury, plus bags of homely charm and Potting Shed massage treatment rooms located in or near the kitchen gardens. The brainchild of founders Hugh and Steve Ridgway, and the St Moritz director of restaurants Jonathan Domé, the new summer restaurant not only surpasses the Government requirements on safe and socially distanced dining, it optimises them, providing a new and exclusive private dining experience for individuals, couples and groups at St Moritz Hotel & Spa. Nicknamed ‘The Anti-Social Club’, the new dining concept consists of 16 private dining rooms mixing the elements of private members clubs, summer pop-up restaurants, private dining rooms and chic beach clubs. It features multiple dining times, clear guidance and operating procedures that ensure the two-metre rule and new environmental health requirements are met at all times. The individual dining rooms are all accessed from outside, with the service function provided from a central atrium, and all food and drink being delivered to the private dining rooms via a set of hatches. This clever design, and the complementary operational procedures, ensure that the service team don’t need to go into the dining rooms, and the individual, staggered dining times mean that guests won’t run into each other either. The innovative set-up also means that each and every room can be completely cleared and appropriately cleaned, then re-set-up, to meet all requirements, between each dining party. With interiors masterminded by multi-award-winning Cornish agency Absolute, who provided the original design for the stylish hotel, The Anti-Social Club takes its inspiration from the clean, white Art Deco architecture of the hotel, mixing a subtle Miami-inspired colour-pop palette with classic coastal stripes, textures and flourishes. Menus pay tribute to the incredible local Cornish food suppliers and producers. St Moritz Hotel & Spa employs at least 65 staff and The Anti-Social Club requires a team of at least 20 during the high season, providing vital local jobs and economic benefits.
