Your Devon and Cornwall Wedding - May/June 2020 (Issue 25)

LUSTY GLAZE BEACH WEDDINGS, NEWQUAY This rustic, laidback venue is situated on its private beach in a secluded cove on the North Cornish coast and has been designed to reflect its surroundings with a restaurant, two bars, the Top Deck ceremony area and clear-fronted marquee allowing for panoramic views stretching across the Atlantic Ocean. It’s not hard to see why the venue was voted the Best Coastal Wedding Venue in the UK Wedding Awards 2019, and also the UK’s Best Beach by The Sunday Times. Ceremonies take place on the Top Deck, a quintessentially coastal space with seating for up to 120 guests. Its bright, open design means that vows can be exchanged against uninterrupted sea views. Alternatively, and new for 2019, couples can now elope in front of one of the coastal blue beach huts with just their witnesses and the ocean. Ceremonies here can take place during the day, or as the sun is setting. Alternatively, a private area of the marquee can also host the ceremony. Receptions take place in this marquee, with its wooden floor, in-built stage and fully equipped bar, seating up to 120 guests for the wedding breakfast and entertaining up to 250 loved ones for the evening reception. An additional area is the Beach Lounge with sand as its flooring, picnic benches for seating guests, and a wood-fired pizza oven and driftwood bar at one end. It features wall-to-wall seascapes – a great spot for a romantic reception at sunset! Lusty Glaze is also home to two beautiful lodgings perched on the sand, The Cottage and The Chalet, which can be hired for the couple and their guests. Ceremony licence? BEDRUTHAN HOTEL & SPA, MAWGAN PORTH This award-winning, four-star hotel is known for its contemporary colour pop interiors and beachside setting. Distinctive from the outside, and true to its 1960s roots, the exterior of the building is a mix of white-painted brick and expanses of glass. It’s surrounded by dune gardens and native plants and overlooks Mawgan Porth Beach and the Atlantic Ocean. Inside sees a collaboration where Scandi-chic meets Cornwall, and there are plenty of spaces in which to relax and enjoy the spectacular sunsets. It’s the ideal wedding venue for an elopement for two, an intimate day with loved ones, or a larger affair. Ceremonies take place for up to 50 guests in The Garden Room, an idyllic space set in the dune gardens, ideal for small wedding parties or elopements. Guests dine at one long trestle table and after the wedding breakfast, they can enjoy toasting marshmallows over the firepit. For larger ceremonies of up to one hundred guests, with room for a further fifty in the evening, there’s The Venue, a versatile space with its private entrance, reception, bar area, sunset terrace and a beautiful view of Mawgan Porth beach.
